[Kelly:]I feel unhappy I am so sad I lost the best friend That I've ever had
[Ozzy:]She is my baby I love her so But it's too late now I've let her go
[Both:]We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus]) We're going through changes (ahh - [chorus])
[Kelly:]We've shared the years We've shared each day I love you daddy But I found my way
[Ozzy:]You know the world Is an evil place My baby is grown now She's found her way
[Both:](ohh ahh - [Chorus]) We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus]) We're going through changes (ohh - [chorus]) (ahh - [Chorus])
[Kelly:]It took so long To realize I can still hear His last goodbyes
[Ozzy:]Now all my days I'm filled in fears Wish I could go back And change the years
[Both:]We're going through changes We're going through changes (changes - [Chorus]) We're going through... Changes
[Both:]Changes Changes Changes...

2Pac died on Friday the 13th...
Las Vegas is a payoff City.. meaning all sorts of folks have been known to be on the take.. that means doctors, press, lawyers etc
The white Cadillac containing the assailants was never found... How could this be when Vegas is in the middle of a desert?
There's a small Black community on the North side of town.. This strip is only about 8 blocks long.. The attackers were Black.. Where did they go? Where did they hide?
The white Cadillac containing the gunmen passes a entourage of 2Pac's boys. Many of them body guards... No one gives chase and there are no witness...There were no witnesses on the street... How come? Why not?
The name of 2Pac's next album is Machiavelli.. He was an Italian war strategist who faked his death to fool his enemies... Perhaps 2Pac is doing the same thing..
The cover of his next album has 2Pac looking like Jesus Christ... Could he be planning a resurrection?
Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert.. How come there was no helicopter chase... If some one was to rob a casino.. The LVPD would've chased you down with some helicopters.. . How come this didn't happen with 2Pac shooting?
2Pac was cremated the day after he died... Since when does some one get cremated the day after a murder... There was no autopsy
There were no ballistic tests... At least we haven't heard about them....
Las Vegas is still very much a mob town.. No one gets killed on the strip... You have to pretty much get permission in order for something like this to happen.. Who was calling the shots on this one?
2Pac's vehicle got shot 12 times and Suge didn't get hit once.. He was 'grazed' by a bullet.. Why did 2Pac get shot all those times and Suge not get hit?
Suge said he drove 2Pac to the hospital and they had a coherent conversation? How bad was 2Pac hit? In addition to all this .. there are conflicting stories claiming that Quincy Jone's daughter was in the back of the car.. and then she wasn't.. what's the deal for real?
2Pac has completed 2 movies and 3 lps that have yet to be released.. With so many people upset about 2Pac's death literally anything connected with him is bound to net a whole lot of cash...
Suge Knight and 2Pac are the only two music industry people on that high a profile with enough balls to pull off a stunt like faking death...
2Pac's video 'I Ain't Mad At Ya' foretold his death ....
2Pac always wore a bullet proof vest but for some strange reason he didn't wear one this time.. why not?
The memorial services that were open to the public were cancelled in both Los Angeles and Atlanta...

as a pedantic dickhead type I'm as "guh dude it's not 'things'll never be the same' and besides that doesn't even make any sense" as the next pedantic dickhead but the thing is absolutely nobody should give half a shit about the chorus when the verses are as all-time as:
I see no changes. Wake up in the morning and I ask myself "Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?"I'm tired of bein poor and even worse I'm blackMy stomach hurts, so I'm lookin for a purse to snatchCops give a damn about a negro? Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a heroGive the crack to the kids, who the hell cares? One less hungry mouth on the welfareFirst ship 'em dope & let 'em deal to the brothers Give 'em guns, step back, and watch 'em kill each other"It's time to fight back", that's what Huey saidTwo shots in the dark now Huey's dead
like if you can't feel that there's something dead inside you imo or else you don't care about lyrics because those are sit-the-fuck-down-and-study-this good

guys i bumped the other changes thread a week ago, c'mon. i think as much as there are parts of this that don't hold a candle to him breathing fire on me against the world &c, a twenty-fucking-what?,-three? year old guy whose lungs you can hear in his voice, he's still totally on, sounds like he can't stop himself, back-w-the-blacks-givin-it-back-to-you, & jack you up, back you up, crack you up & pimp smack you up. & aero otm, i don't know if people hate on this because it's too broad brush or what?, but i buy that, coming from someone who sounds as just weary as he does.
what don't you like about it billstevejim

guys i bumped the other changes thread a week ago, c'mon.
sorry i searched "tupac changes" .. i would've posted in the one you bumped if i saw it.
The sample and chorus are pretty lame and distracting from the lyrics.. The words may be great for all I know, but I can't begin to dissect them with such a bland backing track. I wouldn't mind it as much if people didn't have have the hugest hardon for this song.. If the lyrics are considered that great, then I guess that answers my question..

that other thread is horrible - people taking issue with "change the way we eat" like it was lol - Pac is talking about how shitty eating habits in poor communities make life even worse, when you eat shitty you feel shitty - when he says "change the way we eat, change the way we live & change the way we treat each other" it's beautiful and inspiring, Pac at his most passionate for the places he came from, on some each one teach one stuff

Z-Ro sampling/reinterpolating(?) "I wake up in the morning and ask myself/Is life worth living should I blast myself?" is classic.
Plus, this was the song that was always on the radio back in '99 when I was driving my best friend who was on work release back to jail every night. Mems of sitting in some AZ jail parking lot trying to milk the last few minutes of freedom out of the music on the radio.

as a pedantic dickhead type I'm as "guh dude it's not 'things'll never be the same' and besides that doesn't even make any sense" as the next pedantic dickhead
this has been rattling around my head since i read it & i think while it's sorta right there's a way in which the chorus makes good sense in the song, too; that's just the way it is/things'll never be the same is a contradiction, but:
I'd love to go back to when we played as kidsBut things changed, that's the way it is--
That's just the way it isThings will never be the samethat's just the way it is
like if it's things will never be the same [as when we were kids, b/c things changed], then that's just the way it is [; things change] follows on neatly. it isn't 'things are immutable/things have changed', it's 'things are different now/not like they were when we were kids/dealwithit.gif'.
i know we did not need to unpack this, & i don't know if 'man this chorus does not make sense!' was ever a big thing, but because i didn't even understand what was wrong with that couplet i ended up thinking about it a lot, & think it makes sense grounded in those last two lines of the verse.

xp This makes sense to me... I have no problem with the paradox of a unchanging world of change.
My problem is that the music sounds like fucking elevator music, and the chorus sounds like it was sung by the producer's next-door neighbor.

I think I've heard the instrumental version on the Weather channel during "Local On The 8's" a few times.
