The Evens!

Miccio's right. The Evens disc is great.

Ellis the Vacuumchild - Peace By Extermination

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

you guys just said that cause pitchfork reviewed it today! i do agree, tho. great record.

the oranges band [on lookout, morphius, amish] , the curtains [on frentic and featuring members of deerhoof].

new hold steady coming soon. calla too.

jane (jane), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

The Hold Steady is leaked and fairly good. I didn't think I would be a fan, but I ended up listening to the whole thing straight through without even a thought of turning it off.

Also: P:ano, the new Jeff Hanson (self-titled) (I love it), and, um, there's more but I don't have my iPod with me.

Does anyone really want to listen to an album recommended because it's "decent?"

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 20:05 (twenty years ago)

Apparently.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

C'mon, decent was just chosen because it rhymes with recent.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

I'm not prepared either to call Here Comes Everyone great. It is decent though.

I second the Hold Steady, particularly song 3 "Your Little Hoodrat Friend." That one is so good I could plotz.

new Enon comp is alright. looking forward to the new Brendan Benson.

the upcoming spoon album is the bomb

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

My favorite Aloha album is still That's Your Fire — I miss the vibes on the new one. Glad they're getting attention now, though.

Chris Dahlen (Chris Dahlen), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
The new Old Haunts album on Kill Rock Stars, Fallow Field, might be even better than decent.

Black Mountain is a great record that sounds better with each repeated listening.

i love New Rhodes

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 02:07 (twenty years ago)

There are some sick tracks on Bardo Pond's Cypher Documents. Also, Sleater-Kinney's new one is tightly noisy as hell and awesome.

The Lights!

Wood And Wire EP

I second the Oranges Band recommendation, and add the Rosebuds for similarly good-timey simple pop/rock. And I really like the Ponys, their soon to be relased record is pretty killer.

Also, Hot Snakes put out one of the best albums of last year, but I don't know if you'd consider that "indie rock." You should, though.

Anything by The Radio Dept.
