good songs about san francisco, because i left my heart there or some bullshit like that

so i'm doing a radio show tomorrow night many many miles from home and am considering a san-francisco-themed show - songs from bay area bands mixed in with songs that are about the city or the general area, or just mention it in some way (i love walking around in texas listening to headphones and hearing some offhand reference to familiar street names in a song, it sends shivers down my spine.) anyway i have my favorites of course but i know y'all (ugh) could offer up some brilliant ones that i hadn't thought of or (gasp) have never heard.

it's college radio so nothing too popular (actually nothing by anyone who's ever had a gold record. fuck that rule though it's crap) and nothing obscene (though it's late night so a few cuss words are okay).

i'm too scared to look & see if that hyphy song went gold. i'ma play it anyway, fuck college radio.

Aisler's Set's "Mission Bells" springs to mind, but they bore me so instead you should play all my band's records!

and the Cubby Creatures' cover of "If You're Going to San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear the Product in Your Hair)"

Sorry, "San Franciscan Nights".

you could play the Eric Burdon version, and then play the Gabor Szabo cover and then finally play the People Under The Stairs track that samples the Szabo song.

ALL IN A ROW! IT'LL BE LIKE WHOA!

I lived in Oakland before I lived in SF, all long before Adam started developed his American fetish.
