I say classic. The (currently running: wfmu.org) annual WFMU marathon is some of my favorite radio of the year. Really the textbook on how to make begging for/raising money fun and exciting. Which shows do you look forward to come marathon time? Or do you hate this?

I have trouble choosing the shows I wanna donate to. My wife is just glad that the t-shirt isn't black this year.

mcd (mcd), Thursday, 10 March 2005 04:02 (twenty years ago)

love wfmu. wish i had more money to donate. the fair one of my favorite times of year. especially when older men ventors ask me if i'm looking for dave grohl records. ah to be a girl into records...

jane (jane), Thursday, 10 March 2005 04:05 (twenty years ago)

I won America The Book during the Speakeasy on Monday, hooray.

I was at the last record fair at about 3:30 Friday afternoon, and oh my god, so scary.

I like the black t-shirts!

I don't really have a lot of money to spare, but I think I might pony up to get this year's Best of the Best of the Best Show premium cd, which is all-new comedy bits with familiar characters from the show. I waaaant it.

Classic, just like the station itself.

for 100 you can get the wfmu DVD...they've been filming some fantastic moments in the studios...Joanna newsom, R. stevie moore...kenny g and irwin going nuts...very funny stuff. I was volunteering last night and checked it out. I love wfmu so much. I just pledged 65 to trouble's show, but I'd really like to have done that for pseu or terre's. I don't know...all the premiums are good. Gaylord's premium is called "the meter is running" featuring pop songs in 7/8 or 5/4 or whatever. Really great concept. I could go on and on.

First 'thon I'm not hearing during the daylight hours in ages... I miss it.

Classic to the umpteenth power. I wish I had a Bronwyn Carlton doll.

Those of you in Jersey City who aren't employed should head on down to the Nickel & Dime Radio webcam dance party tomorrow afternoon at FMU. I was there one year and it was retarded.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Thursday, 10 March 2005 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Heh, I want to the webcam dance party last year, and passed out drunk in the Green Room right after. Fun times!

Hi, wordy, I pledged $65 to Trouble today, too!

Puhleez, if you call into the Yo La Tengo requestathon next Tues night, ask for something besides Stooges, Velvets, Kinks.

Really? Which song?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:22 (twenty years ago)

i asked for anything by bj, and they responded by ending the broadcast by playing "we didn't start the fire," using the names of all the requested artists and songs they hadn't gotten to over the course of the show as the lyrics, with on-the-fly commentary included. it was kinda brilliant.

I missed hearing most of the Hoof & Mouth finale last night, but "Let the Eagle Soar" and "Baker Street" were pretty nice.

My volunteer duty highlights were Crispin Glover with Pseu, and Andy Breckman flinching the 2 times he put his hand in a mousetrap.
