"We Are The World" has been stuck in my head for like 2 months.

I always catch myself singing "Vegetables" by the Beach Boys. The words just roll off ones tongue and spill all over the place.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

DANCINNNNNNG!!! WITH TEARS IN MY EYYYYYES!

It's always in there. I don't even like it that much. And I'm not sad, or dancing, or anything. I don't understand it.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

Zappa melodies, oddly enough. Probably a tie between 'Peaches en Regalia' and 'King Kong.'

Daniel Peterson (polkaholic), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:58 (twenty years ago)

"What do I get?" by the Buzzcocks has been rattling around for a while, which probably makes me sad...

Neil Stewart (Neil Stewart), Friday, 11 March 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

The four-note riff from "Friends of P" by The Rentals. For the last ten years.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

Maia heee, maia hai, maia hoo, maia ho ho. See, I don't even know the words, but it's always there.

davidsim (davidsim), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

Bizarrely, "Kiss On My List" crossbred with "King Of Pain". And infuriating it is, since I like the former and can't stand the latter.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

those nasty electronic melodies from my kids games .. urgh ..

Amiga 1200 - Mr Nutz

my 8 year old is hammering that game and the tunes seriously got inside my noggin.

the horror, the horror.

mark e (mark e), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

For some reason, Mambo Italiano and China Girl.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

Lately, Lou Reed's Waves of Fear :-)

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

I'm always likely to start whistling bits of La Sicilienne by Fauré or some snippet from one of Chopin's études. For the last couple of months I've had 'The Guns of Brixton' pop into my head at some point during the day and I haven't listened to that album in ages, though I probably should. This is an exceedingly dangerous thread to read because of its potential to pollinate one with a song it'll take one months to get out of one's head.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 11 March 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

This thread seems rooted in this poll. Careful reading that top ten, it's like an iShuffle of infection.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 11 March 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't happen that often, but considering I've only seen the show once or twice, the Hawaii Five-O theme song gets in my head disturbingly frequently.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 11 March 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

x-post

For at least five years I have woken up many mornings and had Sammy Hagar's "The Two Sides of Love" going in my head when I step into the shower. It is fucking inexplicable.

BlastsOfStatic (BlastsofStatic), Friday, 11 March 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

some songs I wrote and lala by ashlee fucking simpson

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 11 March 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Re: that poll, I'm surprised that "Who Let the Dogs Out" is listed, since I would think it doesn't have enough of a melodic component to worm its way in.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 11 March 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

"Ask" - The Smiths

ASK ME ASK ME ASK MEEEEEEEEE...

Justin, Friday, 11 March 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

"Delta Dawn," "There But for the Grace of God Go I," and "Elenore," probably.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 11 March 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

I had "Yellow Submarine" in my head for several months.

TayBridgeCatastrophe (TayBridge), Friday, 11 March 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

The brass sample (or whatever) from "Crazy in Love" has been repeating itself endlessly in my head lately. Pretty much like it does in the actual song, only without Beyonce. It's OK though, I like the song.

daavid (daavid), Friday, 11 March 2005 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Good: Scritti Politti - "Is and Ought the Western World" and "Hegemony"

Bad: Anything from Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music, and I haven't viewed either in their entirety!

Ian Riese-Moraine (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 11 March 2005 22:30 (twenty years ago)

average white band - 'pick up the pieces'

Probably once a day at least I hear this without using my ears.

Austin (Austin), Friday, 11 March 2005 22:33 (twenty years ago)

In no particular order: "Patio Song" - Gorky's; "Mind Playin Tricks on Me" - Geto Boys; Yellow Submarine, "Freedom or '76" - Ween

Steve Gertz (sgertz), Friday, 11 March 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Zutons. I can't get that pressure point out of my head.

ZionTrain, Friday, 11 March 2005 23:36 (twenty years ago)

'One More Shot' by C-Bank, now going on twenty two years.

Cranberry Pantsuit, Saturday, 12 March 2005 04:09 (twenty years ago)

'earworm' is a good name for this.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 12 March 2005 04:17 (twenty years ago)

Worst: 2 weeks of Deana Carter's "Brand New Key". It just about killed me.
Recurring: Random medley from the Buffy Once More With Feelingsoundtrack
Lately: 'Sure Know Somethin' (KISS)

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 12 March 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

not so much in a long while, though.

I find myself murmuring bits of "Bug Day" almost every single day of my life. Not sure why. Midges...

dlp9001, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:47 (eleven years ago)

'Whip It' and 'Rock Lobster' have been on repeat these last few years.

Dreadnought of chicanery (Ross), Wednesday, 8 August 2018 16:17 (seven years ago)

I've been having three or four of the songs from the Railway Children's first album coming around and about for the last week. That's such a killer record.

outside, you're never alone. (Austin), Wednesday, 8 August 2018 18:27 (seven years ago)

Seem forever haunted by that time Kraft co-opted The Beach Boys - https://youtu.be/0QIwBn87ESM
