I FINALLY AGREE WITH NITSUH

After Nitsuh's comment that REM would have better off for historical purposes quitting after DOCUMENT, even LIFE'S RICH PAGEANT....I can finally say that I wholeheartedly agree with him.

This is a great day.

Oh, and his statements about the Strokes are pretty on the mark, also.

Gage-o, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I might have missed something, were you going around stalking his every post as The Great Denier?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is Nitsuh the one that doesn't have any VU records? Sorry, I can trust someone who doesn'thave any VU records. hah!

helenfordsdale, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

helenfordsdale is actually a scary, weird old man from Brooklen. Buyer beware.

I have the one with Nico, so TRUST IN MY ETERNAL RIGHTNESS. Also I think I have WL/WH and I may well still have a burned copy of VU, although I'm pretty sure I lost it. I only really listen to the first one, though.

Gage-O: does this mean that you've never agreed with anything else I've ever said? Including those instances where I spend three paragraphs reiterating something that's self-evident?

Nitsuh, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm the one with no VU albums. This does not effect my eternal correctness in any way, shape, or form.

Grrrr, now I have to find another reason. Oh okay, I am contrary. I rarely agree with people. Why oh why. Anyway I think to say a band should quit, is giving up hope for a band. I don't. Unless it's Your Dumb Band.

helen fordsdale, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nitsuh: No, it does mean that, at all.

It means that sometimes I find your posts a tad overanalytic. On this specific occasion, you said something that I thought "Right fucking on the MONEY, son!" instead of "this fellow must work at a university of some sort."

That's not a bad thing, though.

Gage-o, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

helenfordsdale is obviously alluding to my new completely fictional band, YOUR DUMB BAND. The members of YOUR DUMB BAND would like to state that although helenfordsdale is a completely over-opinionated music snob, she is allowed to try my Oma's fine Belgian waffles.

Gage-o, Monday, 14 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If that's some euphemism: take it off list, mister. I am off to score some Cage bootlegs.

Oh, man ... few old-school REM fans like "Monster." I love it ... hardly an artistic height for a band that was an 'original' force in music in the early 80's, but an acceptable plateau/indulgence I think ... Stipe's sexy swagger and Thurston Moore's backing vocals on "Crush With Eyeliner" ... the creepy "You" ... the searing, uneasy distortion of "Let Me In" .... 'yeah those stars drip down like butter' ..

likewise, New Adventures was weak, but "e-bow the letter" was a nice exception, as was "Leave." not that this argument needs to be made!

Stipe's sexy swagger

If that was sex, I'll just have some tea.
