I find it hard to believe there isn't a site dedicated to nothing but South African rap...

Hi there l, p, it's been a while, hope you're still around.Could it be this track, "Siklitele" by 4x4? They're from Ghana and it's from 2003.

Dunno where else to post this, and judging from the rest of the thread, it will be ignored, but I love this song, nobody mashes rap & dance together like the folks in Cote d'Ivoire

fyi all of this stuff is welcome in this thread:Rolling Afrobeats / Afropop 2015 thread
― longneck, Monday, 23 February 2015 19:32 (ten years ago)
Absolutely, the focus has been very much on Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa; input from other parts of Africa would be great!
― breastcrawl, Monday, 23 February 2015 19:34 (ten years ago)
is it cool to post non-2015 tracks on that thread? I don't wanna be the new guy getting things wrong! but these are 2000s tracks, I am still catching up on new afropop after leaving Nairobi and coming back to Canada in 09, so a lot of my favourites are a bit dated, can post there for sure though

I just posted some older tracks there myself (and intend to post an even older one from, wait for it… 2010 that I just discovered). I would think it's fine, since to me it feels we're only scratching the surface. More context and most importantly more good music can only be a plus. A separate thread for older stuff could be a good thing in itself, but it's not as if traffic on the Rolling thread is out of control at the moment… longneck, what do you think?
― breastcrawl, Monday, 23 February 2015 19:59 (ten years ago)
As long as you label it as old it can only help deepen and broaden the thread imo. We are indeed only scratching the surface in there so there's no need to spread it even thinner. #mixingupthemetaphors
