Where is the LOVE for Exciter?

The really poor man's speed/thrash metal band from Canada! "Violence & Force" and the great song, "Pounding Metal." And they meant it. Now to be issued this week or something as remasters, confusing everyone who has been buying Exciter remasters on various labels for the past fifteen years. A thoroughly mismanaged catalog -- much like Exciter in halcyon days.

For a second I'm all, "Hey, that's a FINE Depeche album."

"Pounding Metal" is pretty good, but I dunno, compared to other cutting-edge metal from 83-84, Exciter doesn't quite hold up as well.

Well, y'know, the poor man's thing. Cutting-edge is overrated for me, anyway.

For a second I'm all, "Hey, that's a FINE Depeche album."

this was my exact sentiment.

"As your bony fingers close around me
Long and spindly death becomes me
Heaven can you see what I see
Hey you pale and sickly child
You're death and living reconciled
Been walking home a crooked mile"

"Well, y'know, the poor man's thing. Cutting-edge is overrated for me, anyway."

I am so with this agenda (with regard to speed metal, anyway).

I would particularly like to hear the first album, which is entitled HEAVY METAL MANIAC.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Monday, 14 March 2005 21:16 (twenty years ago)

Compared to stuff like the first Voivod album and Slayer's Haunting the Chapel EP, Exciter hasn't aged very well, decent as the music is.

Exciter had album covers that looked like those airbrushed paintings on customized vans.

gor gor the frost giant, Tuesday, 15 March 2005 03:11 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't this the band that accused Metallica of ripping off one of their songs?
