Advice: what's a killer track for a makeup artist's reel?

Help. I need inspiration coming up with a track to accompany a makeup artists reel I am editing. The video is lots of clips of faces and scenes from ads and music videos so the theme would be making people look good...

I was thinking Kraftwerk - The Model. Any other suggestions?

"I Need a Face," by the Muffs. Alternately, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," that's good for anything.

Gotan Project, why not everybody else uses it

The obvious choice would be an instrumental uptempo standard American house track.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 14 March 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

That would also be the lame choice.

which Gotan Project?

Lou Reed - Make Up

Serious answer: yes, Gotan Project or Air or Royksopp or some other form of smooth downtempo easy-to-like electronics. For something very up-to-date, how about Brazilian Girls? Not the one that goes "pussy pussy pussy marijuana," and not "Don't Stop," which has the potential to actually get "big," but one of the other ones.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 14 March 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

It would also depend on the audience. Is it for someone in NYC or London or Des Moines, etc.

Also Jimmy, thanks I love you too.

Seriously though... maybe "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go)" by Garbage?

Gary Glitter - Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 14 March 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

Like I said, that was the just the obvious choice. Also, I'd be careful about something too downtempo. This is commercial afterall.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 14 March 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

There should definitely be a breeziness about it.

Ah, then something they hear on KCRW.

For big-on old-style glamour you could put on the original "Whatever Lola Wants", not the Gotan Proj remix, cause ppl would recognize it but somehow it would some even more "authentic"

I was thinkin of "Epoca" or "Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre)" - they are kinda overused in my opinion though, especially for people who watch Fashion TV!

Skip that sickly soma-tinged pabulum and go for the original by the Waitresses.

Leonard Cohen, "Don't Go Home With our Hard-On."

Seriously, I second the Gotan project. It's perfectly inoffensive and vaguely hip; Hollywood typse will pat themselves on the back for recognizing what it is.

Not a very original answer, but I think "Fashion" works nicely. Either that or the "Liquid Sky" soundtrack.

....on second thought, maybe not.
