I LIKE Alex's Killing Joke fixation. I just wish it didn't involve so many pictures of creepy mimes or clowns or harlequins or whatever those guys are supposed to be. I mean, they were a pretty good band, a lot of the time, but damn did they ever have dorky artwork.

Personally, I quite like knowing other ILMers trademark obsessions - knowing that one musician/band that I can instantly mentally link with his/her/their own personal tireless ILM cheerleader. And this is regardless of whether or not I personally consider said artist to be shit (which KJ certainly weren't). For example, I've never had much use for Genesis in ANY incarnation, but I take a certain comfort in knowing that they're Hongro's alltime faves. (And I don't mean that as a Geir-slam, even tho it kinda sounds like one.) I myself have no intention to avoid mentioning MX-80 Sound at every pertinent opportunity, regardless of how obnoxious it may seem.

it has never occured to me to be "sick" of alex's killing joke fascination. it's a fun inside joke, basically. (not that he doesn't love killing joke honestly, but obviously it's taken on a life of its own as an ilx meme.) and i definitely would have no right to complain because amazingly i've yet to hear a killing joke record. i need to rectify that.

A few points in my defense.

(a) At last count, out of my 2,617 compact discs, only 41 of them are by Killing Joke.
(b) Out of the 9,748 songs in my iTunes, only 228 of them are by Killing Joke
(c) Of the bands/artists I've seen play live the most in my life, Killing Joke aren't even in the top ten.
(d) Out of the countless threads I've started on ILM since approximately 2001, only a relative handful of them have been about Killing Joke.


Might I also add that it takes a rather spectacular lack of balls to post a thread about how "fucking sick" you are of me, yet to do so anonymously.

I WAS TOO! Actually I remember nowt about KJ that night. It was the night after Preston, IIRC. Me and my mates Chris and Noel got as far as Stafford when Chris's beaten-up Datsun broke down. We just left it and took the train. We got a mail train back up North after the Lyceum and just about made it back in time for school. We were in the upper-sixth.
