From Enraptured Records:

"Dear All,

Simeon from Silver Apples emailed to give the sad news that Danny Taylor, Silver Apple's original drummer passed away last Thursday night (10th March) in Newyork. Danny had been rushed to hospital that night but could not be revived. There are no further details at present.

Danny has a son, who until only a few years ago never knew his father's amazing past and his contribution as one half of the ledgendary Newyork duo who were pioneers of a destinct and original electronic and experimental sound that even today is still revered by fans from all over the world.

If anyone would like to send condolences, please email them to me and I will forward them on accordingly.

Please forward this news onto whomever you think would like to be informed.

Many Thanks

Jack

:-(

After Simeon's accident I would have thought he'd have passed on first. This is terrible news.

Awesome drummer... great, tight fills and seamlessly right on top of that oscilloscopic rhythm.

I like how he and Simeon totalled the jet and then they were just sitting there nonchalantly like nothing happened.

terrible. the guy was an amazing drummer who never really got his due. his patterns were so complex and strange but somehow logical. i wish he had the opportunity to make more music.

most of their shit ('seagreen serenades' esp.) is so damn funky due solely to his rhythms.

eman (eman), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 02:29 (twenty years ago)

no info on cause of death though, weird. he couldn't have been that old eh?

eman (eman), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 02:46 (twenty years ago)

while on the topic, how's simeon these days? silverapples.com seems outta commission

That's too bad, he was certainly unique. Can't recall exactly where I read the article describing his style as unusually "melodic", but whoever wrote it was right on. Makes me wonder what Yaz or Suicide or whoever woulda sounded like with a real-live drummer propelling their electronics along. RIP

Last I heard (in December) was that Simeon was back in Alabama, doing well and curating an exhibition called "Region".

Where is this exhibition!? Anything about it online?
