Buying singles again

Yes! Hot on the heels of my 'I don't buy singles' thread comes the next crucial question in the never-ending series, or something. Prompted by the re-release this week of 'My Sweet Lord', what on earth prompts people to buy singles they already have again? Who actually bought Imagine 3 times? Obviously, if they had some new cash-in track on them, I might be more inclined, but none of them ever do. 'MSL' isn't even for charity (erm...I may be wrong here, of course). It is all, obviously, madness.

Worst ever singles madness was Candle In The Wind 97. On the week of release I went into Our Price and there was a sign up: "CANDLE IN THE WIND - CUSTOMERS LIMITED TO 5 COPIES EACH"!!!!

Answer (A) - it is for charity, my other copy's in the loft somewhere, and I've sold the gramophone long since anyway.

Answer (B) - that MSL 2000 remix is "wicked".

I remember seeing the news at the time someone admitting they were buying them as an 'investment'. Since there's only about another 35,000,000 copies knocking about, that must make it worth something.

That and the Notorious BIG tribute are tied.

Funniest Moment of My Life: Working in HMV in Brighton, woman comes in wishing to purchase 20 copies of "Candle in the Wind" to give to guests at her daughter's wedding to celebrate special gals big day.

How we laughed...
