Cashmere

A friend was trying to find something by them and located a woman with a recording of it. She was invited over for dinner in order that my friend might copy it, but the woman fell ill - everybody thought it was because of the food, but the speed and the Buckfast couldn't have helped.

"It's Time for the Perculator" is not the track that was being hunted but it's mighty fine! What are the other good ones? Does Cashmere have anything to do with Green Velvet?

Cashmere is Green Velvet is great! Both the self-titled GV comp and Whatever are pretty spectacular. The little Cajmere that I've heard is a little more spotty.

I knew you wouldn't amount to shit!!!

Is Cajmere the rough fat house act that does "Perculator" then? Or is that Cashmere? I'm confused.

I knew you wouldn't amount to shit!!!

And that's just rude.

The "amount to shit" quote was from a Green Velvet record -- no offense intended, Tracer!

I do believe "Percolator" is Cajmere, yes.

So that's not Cashmere, who = Mr. Green Velvet? Two separate entities? MM hah. No one makes these distinctions on gnutella.

No, Cajmere is Green Velvet. Cashmere, I haven't got a scooby about. I far prefer the Cajmere records to the GV ones, but that's probably cos GV is so played out.

Cajmere ran Cajual and Relief records back in the day and was the don of that whole 93-96 chicago scene. Without his labels Sneak, Derrick Carter, Gene Farris DJ Rush et al would never have broken as big as they did in Europe.

He released a much more varied selection of stuff under the Cajmere name. Basically Cajmere was for Cajual releases, Green Velvet was for stuff on Relief. Cajual released a mixture of chicago-style garage, the less tech-y end of chicago house, and general odd stuff like Strictly Jaz Unit releases.

I think Cashmere is old-skool; at least, it's normally in the "Classics" bin at Beat Street. Nice to know all that about Derrick Carter and the Chicago scene. Derrick Carter and Green Velvet are both playing this Saturday at the Hammerstein Ballroom! Along with Ed Rush, Optical, Halo and Hipp-E, Frankie Bones playing his first ever drum n bass set, etc etc! Costs 40 bucks though. EH fuhgeddaboutit.

I've played Brighter Days a lot over the last year or 2 and except maybe once, when everyone flipped out and lost their shit, it's always killed the dancefloor. Shows you the kinds of crowds I'm dealing with, I guess.
