So I am thinking of buying a dual-CD DJ Mixer. Not a pair of CDs and a cheap electronics store mixer, as Mark Richardson has suggested privately, but a professional piece of gear, all in one box, with all lovely little knobs and dials.

Have one? Can you recommend manufacturers, top-load vs. side-load, etc.? I don't own a record player, so the vinyl option is out.

I've heard Numark is quality ...

yeah, the numark consoles are quite nice, they have great cueing wheels, pitch control, etc.

i did have a complaint about it though but i've forgotten it. something about the mixer that is ultimately very minor.

but you don't own CD decks either, though, so wouldn't CDs be out too?

I'm thinking of buying something like this, in which all the components are contained in one unit:

but the reason I asked is that there are many models and configurations.

Righto--it's called Final Scratch. Basically you load up samples into a laptop or what-have-you, and then you use these two slabs of digitally etched vinyl to control the playing of said samples. Plastikman and a coupla others developed it. Of course, some may argue that it's the worst of both worlds, but really, if you don't use the digital vinyl, then the turntables can still be used for regular vinyl playing. I have no idea how to do links, so I'm going to skip that bit.
