Necro - the king of shit talking?

Genius of anti-PC sickness, with songs like "Dead Body Disposal", "I Need Drugs", "Fucking White Redneck Bitches", "I Shot Reagan"... And even a few different anti-gay freestyles! This NY MC sounds like Slim Shady's worst nightmare, and it's fucking disturbing and most fun at the same time (on lyrical AND musical level)... any opinions?

sounds like hip-hop's answer to Anal Cunt, if you ask me.

He doesn't scare me. I don't think he really scares Eminem either. He's sorta like the white Brotha Lynch Hung.

Necro is hilarious. i just can't get enough of "Get On Your Knees" and the flip on LL Cool J's "I Need Love". the odd thing is, the Tower Records on 4th street has a really big Necro display in the window.

The Hawd Gankstuh Rappuhs MCs would eat Necro up...

What's in the BONG? It's another BONG!

David Raposa, Wednesday, 16 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Hawd Gankstuh Rappuhs are unlistenable piece of shit/brainless garage-hop noise for teenagers who like to think that it's "cool" becauese it's "oh-so-alternative" (and who think that putting shit on the vinyl / on the cover is - ha ha - funny)... Necro is smart and REALLY funny as an artist (and he actually makes music!), so I don't see any connection between these two names...

That's the point, though. ;-)

i hate necro almost as much as i hate hawd gangstuh etc and that's a fucking lot.

ethan, Wednesday, 16 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hawd gankstuh rappuh MCs are much, much funnier and smarter than necro and their retardation is strictly intentional. anti-gay freestyles - i really could give a fuck about that. seems like the targets of his 'attacks' are the usual ones picked out in rap and he's just trying to be the biggest badass on the playground by yelling "FAG!!!" louder and more often than anyone else.

besides, "get in the bong" is funny as hell AND an effective critique of cypress hill ca. "black sunday".

your null fame, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"their retardation is strictly intentional"

I know, but doesn't make them more listenable or less boring...

I like his Wendy Carlos-flipping beat on Cage's "Agent Orange", but there's something kinda Portal of Evil about him.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Sunday, 14 March 2004 05:49 (twenty-one years ago)

was it necro who recorded a song using "driving me backwards" by brian eno as the sampled beat for one of his songs? or was that some other guy? and if so, WHO? it totally caught me off-guard one day when my friend was blasting it from his car.

nate otm about the PoE vibe.

three weeks pass...

used to like necro til i read more of his interviews. he seems like a right cock/cunt (cant decide which).

Funny this pops up today - I've been on a Necro kick recently. Dude's a great producer, not a great MC, but his personality certainly carries it. Yes he seems like a grade-A douchebag, but how many MCs don't?

Maybe this is the place we should also bring up Cage's transformation to hard-as-hell MC to the Conor Oberst of backpacker hip hop. I don't know how to encrypt shit, but check out these two links:

Cage before:
Cage now:

This very WTF transformation is something worth discussing. On the one hand, I think Cage is totally commendable in that he's simply following his muse, doing what many MCs only claim to and 'keeping it real.' On the other hand, it's hard not to think of him as disingenuous. I mean, where did the 'blaccent' go? Did it just disappear overnight? When I first heard "Agent Orange," I though to myself, "now this dude is serious business." Now he looks like he'd better stay outta Mexico or else feel the wrath of the Anti-Emo gangs. What gives?

man i forgot about hawd gangstuh rappaz mcs wid gahtz...i bought it because somebody told me it was really prince paul in disguise or some shit, don't know if that's for real.

i remember it being kinda funny. actually, the parodies of college radio DJs were super dead on and awesome.

M@tt He1ges0n, Saturday, 27 December 2008 20:24 (seventeen years ago)

hawd gangstuh rappaz mcs wid gahtz is a fucking minstrel show, come on now

da cryptkeepa (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 27 December 2008 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

also, re: Cage, i think he grew up and realized that I'M GONNA FUCKIN EAT YOUR ENTRAILS acid-rap is mostly stupid garbage for juggalos. like dude has had a lot of fucked up shit happen to him in his life and he still wants to talk about it but doesn't want to be a Dungeons And Dragons dorkus about it anymore and that's fine by me.

da cryptkeepa (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 27 December 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)

Well said. I tuned out after Soundtracks for the Blind or whatever it was called, fearing Atmosphere-level emo-ness, but the way he comes off in that interview - laconic, possibly drugged, but likeable - makes me want to believe. Plus, Blockhead and El-P's production always worth at least a listen, right?

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Saturday, 27 December 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)

as far as kings of shit talking, ra the rugged man is still talking a lot of shit and still sounds like he used to.
