was it necro who recorded a song using "driving me backwards" by brian eno as the sampled beat for one of his songs? or was that some other guy? and if so, WHO? it totally caught me off-guard one day when my friend was blasting it from his car.

Funny this pops up today - I've been on a Necro kick recently. Dude's a great producer, not a great MC, but his personality certainly carries it. Yes he seems like a grade-A douchebag, but how many MCs don't?
Maybe this is the place we should also bring up Cage's transformation to hard-as-hell MC to the Conor Oberst of backpacker hip hop. I don't know how to encrypt shit, but check out these two links:
Cage before: Cage now:
This very WTF transformation is something worth discussing. On the one hand, I think Cage is totally commendable in that he's simply following his muse, doing what many MCs only claim to and 'keeping it real.' On the other hand, it's hard not to think of him as disingenuous. I mean, where did the 'blaccent' go? Did it just disappear overnight? When I first heard "Agent Orange," I though to myself, "now this dude is serious business." Now he looks like he'd better stay outta Mexico or else feel the wrath of the Anti-Emo gangs. What gives?

also, re: Cage, i think he grew up and realized that I'M GONNA FUCKIN EAT YOUR ENTRAILS acid-rap is mostly stupid garbage for juggalos. like dude has had a lot of fucked up shit happen to him in his life and he still wants to talk about it but doesn't want to be a Dungeons And Dragons dorkus about it anymore and that's fine by me.

Well said. I tuned out after Soundtracks for the Blind or whatever it was called, fearing Atmosphere-level emo-ness, but the way he comes off in that interview - laconic, possibly drugged, but likeable - makes me want to believe. Plus, Blockhead and El-P's production always worth at least a listen, right?

as far as kings of shit talking, ra the rugged man is still talking a lot of shit and still sounds like he used to.
