Back in the day I'd get them confused. So who's legacy is better? One plug for Void: They never went totally pop (like "you take me breathe away" which i've always hated). Also, this aint no beauty pageant.

I'd get them confused

Ever seen what they respectively looked like? That'd clear up your problem. Suffice to say: CONTRAST!

Berlin. "The Metro" is like the best song ever (not really).

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Friday, 1 April 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

Berlin by a mile

pre-Terri-Nunn Berlin is, like, The Normal or VERY early Human League, but with a more goth female vocalist

Nevr say Nevr -VS- Sex.

The rest is disposable.
Nevr say Nevr by as nose as it ripped off Too Many Creeps

Romeo Void -vs- Vomit Launch
or
Berlin -VS- Missing Persons.

(Vomit Launch & Missing Persons, easy.)

Girl In Trouble (Is A Temporary Thing) and Never Say Never!
By virtue of those two songs alone, Berlin is mega-trumped. Sex (I'm A) Is pure drivel. Plus that guy's vocals in Sex sounds like he's wearing a T-Shirt and nothing else. And he has a moustache. Fuck, he creeps me out.

Romeo Void were essentially a one-hit-wonder (never mind "Girl in Trouble is a Temporary Thing," it's all about "Never Say Never").

Berlin, by contrast, had a clutch of great -- if slightly silly -- singles. Berlin wins.

Martha and the Muffins beats them both.

Void, though if you listen to their first LP and EP enough times it will be hard to keep yourself from sticking your head in the oven. Thus, in terms of "music that makes you want to stay alive," it comes down to Berlin.

Sex (I'm A) is pure drivel

Which is precisely why it's so great.
