Oh yea, I guess I should explain that amazon recommends that these albums be bought in a pair. I guess that means that people that buy Television Personalities (specifically this album) also buy Charles Manson records. Awesome.

I think you overexplained yourself.

Maybe you're right, Ned. Maybe you're right.

But I'll tell you this: if I reached just one-- just one-- it will all have been worth it.

jmeister (jmeister), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:47 (twenty years ago)

(x-post)

maybe, but i don't think so. I wasn't looking at the Manson CD, though... (or was I?)

I was about to start a thread called, "Albums by cult leaders," but I think those are the only two besides I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning... There's probably some crazy voodoo shit out there by people like the bad guy in Live and Let Die that I'd love to hear, though. Anyone?

There are several Jim Jones / People's Temple editions out there. Some have the gospel music of the People's Temple. The really hardcore artifact is, of course, the Psychic-TV-released recordings of the actual mass suicides, called "Thee Last Supper". Not for the squeamish . . .

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Manson's music is kinda like Jandek without the soul.

five years pass...

Listening to Teenage Filmstars right now, the 1993 album Rocket Charms. I love this over the top nineties indie psych.
Reminds me of Vibrasonic. There's some pretty well done "chill out" sections on the album.
There's no thread dedicated to the Filmstars, I guess it was a guy named Edward Ball with a rotating cast that include D. Treacy and others? How are The Times records?
