The Gourds do a country/bluegrass version of Gin and Juice which is great.

Is that the one on the Rough Trade country comp? That is great. Not exactly in the same style, but certainly falling into the 'white indie acts covering hip hop / r+b' category, 'Creep' by Afgan Whigs is pretty good

Dynamite Hack to thread.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

Duran Duran's cover of "911 is a Joke" sure as hell does not belong on this list!

"Insane in the Brain" by the connells is good and hysterically funny.

Unfortunately, the sample I found doesn't have the "A craker like me is going insane" lyric in it. A pity.

Sissy Bar does a great cover of Gin and Juice.

the word 'good' in the thread title is severely limiting my responses

my girlfriend has this crappy compilation called "too legit for the pit." its a bunch of shitty metal bands covering shitty rap songs.

its really crappy though.

perhaps the answer to the thread title is simply 'no'

i'd like to hear an unironic rock or othewise cover of 'crossroads'

Barenaked Ladies, "Fight the Power"

I personally don't think it's good, but someone out there might like it.

I liked the Fight The Power by some band called something like Swamp Dogg that came out around 1991.

The Folds/Bitches is probably the best effort in this delightful genre to date though. Whigs' Creep is grebt but I'm guessing the original was more pop'n'b than hip-hop
