High On Fire devours Arcade Fire before the fight has a chance to start.

stephen morris (stephen morris), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

High on Fire rules; Arcade Fire drools.

Actor Sizemore fails drug test with fake penis (jingleberries), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

jonathan - stl (jonathan - stl), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

hahahhaha "intriguing"

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

ppl only call you intriguing when they DON'T want to fuck you

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to point out that that was the cover of TIME CANADA (Canadian edition), so please don't all get excited.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but you fail to mention that Smash Mouth were on the cover of the American issue.

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

I'd take a good american rock band like THE USED or "the Misfits" over that Arcade Fire shit.

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

oh I kind of like the used.

Airtube (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

high on fire. they don't look like high school kids in charge of the yearbook. also, the music.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

Why did you put the Misfits in quotations?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

"the Dead Kennedys"

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

High on Fire slays, obviously. Arcade Fire have what, two or three really good songs...? that and a lot of shitty U2-rhythm section tricks and yelping vocals and a "tragic" back story = blech.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 5 April 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

Oh I see...as in no longer the real Misfits. Got it. Point taken.

Anyway, the only nice thing I can say about either band is that High on Fire have fun album covers.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Why don't you like High on Fire? They were good when I saw them!

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:04 (twenty years ago)

Oh man, that Time cover. How sad.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

"THE SCHIAVO LEGACY: WHO REALLY WINS?...THE ARCADE FIRE"

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

Did they pull the feeding tube on their dead grandparents?

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Oh man, that Time cover. How sad.

THE TIME CANADA COVER, NED, THE TIME CANADA COVER!!!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

I kind of want to photoshop andy dick's head on the left most and Terri Schiavo's on the next one...

absolutego (ex machina), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

THE TIME CANADA COVER, NED, THE TIME CANADA COVER!!!!

Noted. But still.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

Yes, sorry, Time USA ROCKS. ROCKKS HARD AND HONORS FIRE>

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:13 (twenty years ago)

yesterday my mom asked me, "who is canada's most intriguing rock band?" i saw she was holding a time and guessed the arcade fire. i walked away and she watched the junos

does that make you want to touch yourself? (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Sadly, that was a domestic cover.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Is Tragically Hip still big in Canada?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

has anyone got any tips on how i can sneak into America? also, any leads on demeaning, poorly-paid physical labour would be much appreciated.

Lee F# (fsharp), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 10:31 (twenty years ago)

high on fire, no question at all!

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 10:48 (twenty years ago)

for some reason that redheaded guy on the TIME cover fills me with Alex in NYC-worthy mouth-frothing faux rage!

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

well, I love the arcade fire. never heard high on fire. but arcade fire have really hit the bigtime with this huge backlash bandwagon! they've got 2 covered-wagon circles surrounding them, battling it out in a concentric fashion with their homemade broomsticks! if they hadn't become so big so fast (really not their fault) more people would be into them. they way of indie. such success is a threat to indieism!

ilx discovers its player-hatin' indie soul when indie rock band makes cover of glossy newsrag; in shocking subsequent development, wags finger at corny indie-rap d00dz when they get emo about MF Doom on cover of same publication
