The singer for Electric Six got a parking ticket while I was interviewing him

Yesterday, Dick Valentine and I were speaking by phone about how the Electric Six has done so much better in the UK than the US when, suddenly, he screams, "No! You can't do this! I'm right here! Nooooooooo!"

It startled me at first. But once he'd explained (and been ticketed; the meter maid wouldn't back off), it seemed quite fitting somehow.

You recorded that and said you'd let him use that as a sample, I trust.

The mental picture of him yelling that in his singing voice is priceless.

...while furiously shaking a tambourine in a sleeveless pink shirt.

(I'd like to think that he dresses like that in real life and carries a tambourine around, for dance-related emergencies.)

Nah, I wasn't recording. This article was a quick and dirty concert preview. Nice guy, though. Too bad the new CD is tanking in the UK. Personally, I think it's better than the first one, and I'm a fan. Electric Six plans to start recording a third album this summer before the second one is even available in America (thanks to stalling by Warners, which apparently is unhappy that this one has no "Gay Bar" on it.) There's something not right about that.
