all this talk of myspace bands pretty much = major label bands. i saw beck as the "featured artist" recently. like he needs anymore promotion. hah

breezy, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

wow. that song goes absolutely nowhere.

john'n'chicago, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

i know, that song completely fucking sucks. its one of the new Noel songs, and im now somewhat convinced that he has no idea how to write a song anymore.

of course, if you read the album bio on the site, Liam's songs are godlike. *sigh*

just someone get them an 8 ball and a time machine, quickly

i haven't listened to the myspace one, but the version i heard last week was pretty good for a new Oasis track. at the very least its the best lead single since "D'You Know What I Mean", but you know... that's really not saying all that much.

Jandek is on my band's myspace friends list! Top that Oasis!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

Surprisingly good stuff. Kind of Beatlesque, which is always a good sign. Hopefully they will keep those overdrive guitars off the rest of the new album as well, as they are at their best in their "Morning Glory" style.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

My god this is fucking dreadful.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Channel 4 is doing the "FIRST SHOWING" of the video now, as its own program and everything. The last time they did this was for "Just Lose It". This is worse.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

And hey, so's the video! *cries*

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

The video seems to be applying that Britpop was in some way glamourous.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Are these just extras that couldn't get into a Scissor Sisters shoot?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

"Don't Believe The Truth". OMG! Deep!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

The Jean Genie, yeh?

Can't they be like The Stereophonics and get The Killers album? Y'know get MODERN and EXCITING etc etc

elwisty (elwisty), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

sounds very similar to "street fighting man" at the beginning of the verse, doesn't it?

Vestigial Appendages, Esq. (King Kobra), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 21:58 (twenty years ago)

yep.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

its no way that bad! bit directionless, yeah, but its ok.

titchyschneider (titchyschneider), Thursday, 7 April 2005 11:53 (twenty years ago)

Remember that episode of TFI Friday at Chris Evans' house with Noel Gallagher?

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 7 April 2005 12:07 (twenty years ago)

I was listening to something which sounded like a dreary Robbie Williams track on Radio 1 the other day. I turned out to be this.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 7 April 2005 12:29 (twenty years ago)

er... *IT* turned out to be this.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 7 April 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

BirPop wasn't glamorous? It definitely seemed glamorous from my 14-year-old Blount County bedroom vantage point.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 12:46 (twenty years ago)

birPop = BritPop in Lack-of-coffee-town.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 7 April 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

I'll admit to liking the song, on first hearing at least. It seemed to have at least some of the fire in its belly that Oasis's older, good stuff does, and Liam's vocal was excellent.

The video was pretty meh, but I can't recall them making any especially good videos.

Am now vaguely intrigued to hear the album, whereas before I wouldn't have been bothered either way, so as a lead single its job is done.

Bill Ayres (Bill A), Thursday, 7 April 2005 13:25 (twenty years ago)

it reminded me of this Ocean Color Scene record my friend borrowed me once...it's kinda good actually though...it's got that heads-down 70s boogie vibe.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

I fucking hate it. It's searching for a tune, goes nowhere, the guitars are bad, the lyrics...
