not really; I think it stems from Franco (who was Congolese), and in his case it stems from Cuban rumba. I have that massive Ned Sublette book about Cuban music here and I keep hearing how great it is, but I have yet to crack it. because, you know, I'm too busy posting on ILM.

two years pass...

The song that pitchfork posted today by that group Extra Golden which they called Benga has got me really interested. The two guitars sounded like The Feelies or Television or something but with a better beat, and I get the feeling this song is a watered down version of something even better.

Any more stuff you guys like?
