i know he was on factory for a while, but that`s about the extent of my knowledge. recently though, he`s been contributing to those actually quite good (believe-it-or-not) teletext pages "planet sound"..and all of a sudden i`m intrigued. tell me, was/is he any good?

From memory - did a couple of things on Factory including "Ophelia's Drinking Song" on a Factory Video, which is unintentionally funny. Did an album on Cherry Red, which is OK. A bit grim really. There's a song about his girlfriend going on holiday without him which contains the lines "I don't like the the thought of you/with a tan/I don't like the thought of you/with a man" - which is good.

There's also a rare as f@ck album or EP or summat where he sings with The Sound. Also rare - there are two or three tracks with him singing with what remained of Joydiv pre-New Order. Apparently they auditioned him as a replacement for Curtis. I have heard this stuff once or twice - it was on a Crepuscule compilation. Maybe it will see the light of day when Crep finally get around to re-releaseing some of their hard-to-find stuff. Rumoured to be this year.

Maybe Jeff W or Tim H knows more about this latter stuff. I can find it out if anyone wants to know. LTM or Frank Brinkhaus sites would have the info. My friend NG has the KH album and also, I think the one with The Sound. I'll ask.

Kevin Hewick?

The greatest voice you've never heard. Genius. Saw him recently. Can't get the songs out of my head.
