Anybody ever heard of the UK band, The Bays, and who do they sound like?

All I know about them is that former Japan and current Porcupine Tree keyboardist Richard Barbieri will playing with them as a "guest musician" during an upcoming UK tour.

And the band's drummer played on Barbieri's recent (and first ever) solo album.

Anyone know what the music is like?

"Rock"? Last time I saw them (maybe four years ago) it was house, disco etc. Dance music.

they make a point of the fact that they don't record or rehearse. all live & improv. a friend of mine saw 2 shows recently though and said it's pretty clear they fall into patterns that repeat from show to show.

i know they have at least 2-3 shows to dl for free at their website.

they are awful. smug "musicianship" overriding any content or actual good tunes. just endless breakbeats and congas and horns and shit.

ou know that feeling you get when someone says "er..theyre like a live drum and bass band"? thats what the bays are like. they are the epitome of the "live drum and bass band".

like, i got over the fact that roni size had a live band 8 years ago. these guys are still astounded that they can sort of replicate d'n'b breakbeats on a drum kit. and then wash jazz funk all over the top of it

urgh.
