Are great! Has ILM talked about them? If not, fell free to discuss them. Anyone know if they will have a new album in the foreseeable future?

I saw the pastels supporting huggy bear i believe it was at the (semi)legendary Jericho Tavern in Oxford. They underwhelmed me at the time but that was before I started somking inordinate amounts of skunk weed on a daily basis.

Some one here please explain the use of the word "underwhemled"???
I've seen it twice used in ordinary coversations. Underwhemled is not a word. I know its not cause I looked it up. Its one of those skills I learned in my school(when I was young).

They were pretty shit until "Truck Train Tractor". Intermittently genius. Loved the recent-ish remix LP.

'Underwhelm' is in my Collins dictionary. As you might imagine, it's a 20th century coined word that means the opposite of 'overwhelm' (ie. to disappoint, make no positive impact upon). Originally a jokey flip of 'overwhelm' and now almost common currency, yes.

Boy, wont Sloan be dissappointed to know that.

Mr Noodles, Saturday, 19 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ahh, it's been ages since I snarkily used that Sloan quote to irritate me. Takes me back to the heady days of youth...

[I'm slightly left of centre]

The Sloans know it's a word; it 's in their FAQ.

Well I'll be you learn something new every day.
Next your going to tell me affection has one 'f's?

Mr Noodles, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

back to the Pastels, I like the remix album a lot, and the last two proper albums (Mobile Safari & Illumination) quite a bit as well.

The latest record is wonderful. I can't thing of a band of their generation that've maintained their aceness as well as The Pastels. The instrumental title track off the newie is my default headjam.

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 26 September 2013 16:31 (twelve years ago)

Looking forward to seeing them in a few weeks. I saw them a couple of years ago with the Tenniscoats but haven't seen them as just The Pastels for about 6 years, and that was a support slot to a JAMC reunion show.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 26 September 2013 16:35 (twelve years ago)

Have seen them a couple of times in the last year. They followed a great and energetic Aislers Set reunion at the Chickfactor anniverary London show, and somehow it not only worked but seemed perfect.. the excitement followed by the reflective glow.
