I thought this would be a fun exercise.
Here are the rules, as far as I can gather:
-Pick 16 tracks that really "matter to you."
-However, no more than 4 can be by non-household-name artists (you may interpret this one liberally if you like)
-and no more than 4 can be from the last 10 years (but at least a couple must be)
-and at least 4 have to be mega-canonized artists (though you don't always have to pick the most obvious songs)
-None of it can be hip-hop, or punk unless it's realtively non-threatening hip-hop or punk by today's standards, and no hardcore techno/jungle/idm, no noise, etc.
(we have to sell the damn things to our generalist middle-class coffee customers, you know.)
