Echo and Messina

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 April 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

does Roland Orzabal really overshadow Curt Smith that much?

I'm not even sure which one is which, come to think of it.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Monday, 11 April 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

I dunno. Just trying to get the ball rolling.

And "less talented" is perhaps too controversial. If you prefer "less famous" or "less prominent" or even "less extroverted," that's fine too.

Or, conversely, if you want to make the case that I've got it all wrong and Garfunkel was really some kind of Rasputinic Power Behind the Throne, now's your chance.

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Monday, 11 April 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

Marty Jannetty and Charlie Haas (this could actually happen in the near future!)

Oh wait, MUSICAL partnerships ...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 11 April 2005 14:58 (twenty years ago)

Bez is a v. good call, mark grout.

(Now. How long before some hipper-than-thou wiseass comes in here and posts "Traveling Wilburys," wokka wokka?)

The Mad Puffin (The Mad Puffin), Monday, 11 April 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

I once saw a band at YoYo-A-GoGo that consisted of Tracy Sawyer from Heavens to Betsy, Becca Albee from Excuse 17, and Radio from The Need - all ex-members of bands whose primary members went on to bigger things.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:16 (twenty years ago)

I really expected that every answer would have John Oates and/or Andrew Ridgely as one of the members.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Monday, 11 April 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

D'oh indeed, this was done on a Simpsons ep once. Lisa had a dream that she played in a "second most popular band" with Garfunkel, Messina and Oates.

nine years pass...

Oates and Garfunkel.

Ha! This happened. Well, not really, and neither John Oates nor Art Garfunkel are involved, but there's a comedy duo/tv show named Garfunkel and Oates now.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 15 November 2014 16:08 (eleven years ago)

Electronic?

Fine Toothcomb (sonofstan), Saturday, 15 November 2014 23:10 (eleven years ago)

I wish the g&o show were better but they do get off the occasional good bit/guest star. Their songs are uniformly awful tho. And all the same.

Οὖτις, Sunday, 16 November 2014 03:04 (eleven years ago)

Electronic?

Even if Marr has spent most of his post-Smiths career making bad music, I'd argue he's still way more talented than Morrissey.
