Who owns a dead rock star's legacy

I'm doing a story on Ian Curtis and his ex-wife Deborah. She wrote the book "Touching From A Distance" about him and the band, which is now becoming a film.

New Order hates the idea, because they didn't like what she wrote about them, and from what I understand the fans isn't too happy about her either.

Then I got to think of other examples of widows who are/were hated by the fans of the dead rock star and/or his ex-band.

Courtney Love is an obvious example, so is Yoko Ono.
The rumours after Elliott Smith's tragic death, about his girlfriend being behind it, also seems like were untrue.

Does anyone have more examples?
