Hey, revive 'em, they're there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 15 April 2005 04:30 (twenty years ago)

I had a pretty lame day. I prefer a new thread. Plus my favorite Ghetto Boys JPG is no longer around ILM.

cs appleby (cs appleby), Friday, 15 April 2005 04:47 (twenty years ago)

charleston charge (chaki), Friday, 15 April 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

It's a shame really, half of the pictures in those threads are offline now (including mine, since I changed ISP, but that's no great loss)

Øystein (Øystein), Friday, 15 April 2005 19:10 (twenty years ago)

jaymc - if i recall the original philosophy of the first thread was to do them from memory but not necessarily to make a puzzle. lots of people did puzzle ones though. yeah, there is no puzzle with the lcd soundsystem one which does make it a little less fun. no guess on my first?

gspm (gspm), Friday, 15 April 2005 20:26 (twenty years ago)

peter d (peter dee), Friday, 15 April 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

Waking Up Onstage at Jumbo's (Bent Over at the Arclight), Friday, 15 April 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

First one in that series of five is Black Dice - Cold Hands

sleep (sleep), Friday, 15 April 2005 21:18 (twenty years ago)

the last one of JW's is Slicer or Mugger.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 15 April 2005 21:20 (twenty years ago)

Those are all RITE!

Gimp is a free image editor comparable to photoshop.

I'm surprised japanophile gygax! didnt get one of the others!

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Friday, 15 April 2005 21:25 (twenty years ago)

Is the middle one Muse?

Ferlin Husky (noodle vague), Friday, 15 April 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Friday, 15 April 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Saturday, 16 April 2005 01:29 (twenty years ago)

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 16 April 2005 05:21 (twenty years ago)

Bad Brains

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 16 April 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

First one is Mary J. Blige? Third is Madonna remix album. Don't know the middle one.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 16 April 2005 05:59 (twenty years ago)

although without consulting any covers first, the middle looks like some kind of Tori Amos type thing

The Richard D. James album.

Failin Huxley (noodle vague), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

Unless'n it's I Care Because You Do, but I think that's the one where he's got longer hair.

Failin Huxley (noodle vague), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

Some of these are def. not drawn from memory. And yeah, the idea was never to make it into a puzzle -- the fact that you're drawing from memory already makes it that much harder to accurately draw the album cover. The fun was in seeing how recognizable many of them were despite all these handicaps.

And the Madonna one is "True Blue", isn't it?

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

"You Can Dance"

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

For some reason, I thought "True Blue" had a similar-looking cover. Was there a Madonna single that had a cover like that? Or am I dreaming?

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:30 (twenty years ago)

the gretchen wilson and the kid rock were not from memory - i actually had forgotten about that element of the original thread. i do agree that that's what really made the first time around so entertaining. mainly, i couldn't sleep last night and screwing around in MS Paint seemed appealing.

as for the second set, those were from memory. yes, the first is the first mary j album, the third is madonna "you can dance", and someone's gotta know the middle one...

aboleth, Saturday, 16 April 2005 19:26 (twenty years ago)

OMG it's "Out of the Blue" by Debbie Gibson!

Richard C (avoid80), Saturday, 16 April 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)

My own feeble efforts. I think there's a definite progression in quality here!

Richard C.'s first one is The Holy Bible. I want to say his third is an Einsterzende Neubauten.

Organized Crime (Leee), Saturday, 16 April 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

Whoa. Okay, so there's Boston, Cop Shoot Cop (?), The Damned, Killing Joke, Blondie, Queen, and U2 (?)...

Telephonething, Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)

Achh. The day I bought Screamadelica I spent like 2 hours straight on MSpaint copying the album cover the best I could. I did a pretty good job at it too. I don't think I have it though.
