I'm amused to hear Ned wears one nearly every day. I guess it warms my heart to hear people be proud of this sort of thing. I got in an argument with someone once who said wearing band T-shirts after 40 was just daft, shows you hadn't grown up or whatever. What a bunch of hogwash.
I'm not wearing any band T-shirts today, but then I really only have two wearable ones anymore: English Beat & Beta Band. I hope to add to these this month.

That's not the one I have, though. Mine has the oval-shaped logo, similar in form to the one on the greatest hits:
except on my (white) shirt it's blue and red. On the back it says "808 State Entertainment System". But the pic I posted at the top of the thread is admittedly a better design -- I would have prefered a shirt like that!

Here's the big secret about noise. NO ONE LISTENS TO IT. I like Nelly.
― Open your eyes; you can fly! (ex machina), Friday, 15 April 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)
I just equate Jon with being such a noise dude that he would frown on such conventional rock practices as, say, wearing a band t-shirt or a leather jacket (which he used to give me grief about).
In terms of wearing band t-shirts after 40? Well, that's only three years away from me, and being that I have more band t-shirts than I can count....let's just say that if that particular fashion bill is made into fashion law, I'm going to need to do so severe shopping.

I got a Bl4ck Dice shirt in the mail to replace my shredded one but I wanna try to save the pattern on it. What to do with a shredded band shirt?
I also have a shredded LE SHOK one to save.
Also, I have a BORIS shirt. And "Washing Machine" SY shirt. And Wolf Eyes' "Dread" shirt. and uhhhh... hmmm a Yaphet Kotto shirt. And a Boredoms shirt.

is it a hisham design? i would sew/stitch it on to another t-shirt.
And a Boredoms shirt.
There are CRAZY v00redoms t-shirts in Japan that go for like ~$40-50 at their shows.

I hope they have MERCH on the tour! There's occasionally older ones on ebay that rule.

I got it when I saw them on the tour for Wild in the Streets. Nowadays, these things can easily be procured online or via eBay or whatever. But back then, it was hard enough to find Circle Jerks records, let alone merch and t-shirts and other shit. So, I continue to cherish it, even though it's Shroud-of-Turin-thin.

Only a small subset of my concert t-shirts are in my semi-regular rotation. These include: Tortoise 1996, Orb 1995 (blue shirt with the spiky star design from "Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld), Orbital 1997 (moonmen pointing), SFA 2001 (some weird smoking alien thing), MUTEK 2002, and about two or three others. These will likely be the ones I'll use for reviving the thread.
Stuff I hardly ever wear: Smashing Pumpkins "Zero" (too corny, too many pics with Billy Corgan wearing it), Primal Scream "Screamadelica" (too bright, too red), JSBX "Acme" tour (too orange), Suede (cover of debut album, wearing a photo of two girls making out is a strange thing to wear in public), etc.
Fun fact: I wore my Inspiral Carpets "Cool as Fuck" shirt to EVERY final exam from Grade 12 (when I bought it) through 3rd year university. It was my good luck charm. Then, there was an incident involving a missed exam which killed the shirts' powers (in my mind). I tried restarting the habit about a year later, but it was too late, I had lost faith in the shirt. I continued to wear it from time to time, but never to any exams.

I have a pastel pink Jazzkammer girly-tee. The design's not that nice, but noise shirts in girly sizes (not to mention girly colors) are pretty hard to come by.

I have an ancient, withering Mission shirt (featuring a big picture of Wayne's face....yeah, ya need that) that I rarely wear but will never part with.

It's got three this design (without the grey stripe) in three side by side by side panels in yellow, green and red.

This thread may have become somewhat redundant given how often some ILM'ers wear their old concert shirts (far more often than I would have assumed before starting this thread!).

Self-employment does wonders on the "wearing a questionable shirt" front. Said employment being a geetar store doesn't hurt either.

Right now, not sure it counts...but I'm wearing a white t-shirt I picked up in some shitty skate shop in 1998....if features four imperial stormtrooper helmets festooned with Kiss make-up. It's awesome.

As a related "bad t-shirt story", I just went to a big street festival in St. Paul called Grand Old Days, drunk as a lord and couldn't figure out why all of these moms and dads were shuttling their children away from me and giving me dirty looks (I am no longer the stompy-industrial-type that I used to be, and I wasn't THAT drunk...)
Later that evening I realized that it probably was due to my bleary eyed-choice to wear my nomeansno shirt with "KILL EVERYONE NOW!" on the front in huge friendly letters to the festivities...
