uh...no. not even close, dude. unless the barometer is "dullness."

this is a joke thread, right?, Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

it's up there.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:39 (twenty years ago)

what is it? seriously.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

It's a good ep, but they forgot to not make most of the second half totally suck. Some of the ballads sound like Candlebox with weaker melodies

mitch dub (ano ano), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:51 (twenty years ago)

really? i can't find anything redeeming about this record.

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:51 (twenty years ago)

really? i suggest you need to go back and listen again. it psyches me out.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

The only track I really like is Don't Run our Hearts... I listen to, and derive mild enjoyment from, about 4 other ones.

mitch dub (ano ano), Sunday, 17 April 2005 01:54 (twenty years ago)

getting psyched out is a bad thing.

do you mean psyched up?

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

no, i mean psyched out. getting psyched out saves my psyche from collapsing in on itself. getting psyched up is a whole other kettle of haddock.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:06 (twenty years ago)

I find it flat and lifeless.

Sabbath Lite.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:06 (twenty years ago)

it's basically pyschedelic rock with all the rock taken out.

"Rap: The Musical. All the fun of rap...without all that rap!"

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Sunday, 17 April 2005 03:10 (twenty years ago)

i'm a gold tooth

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Sunday, 17 April 2005 03:34 (twenty years ago)

...the duke spirit "cuts across the land" would be my pick if the thing ever gets released! in the meantime though i would take ellis the vacuumchild "peace by extermination".and of course their will be many who will mention m.i.a. "arular"

william (william), Sunday, 17 April 2005 03:37 (twenty years ago)

debut of the year? probably not. top five? in my opinion, yes. these guys are a pure dose of talent - drug-induced hippie-rock. amazing guitar riffs, amazing vocals, amazing drumming. and yeah, that girl who moans stuff and shakes maracas from time to time isn't too bad, either. join the black mountain army.

matt maly, Sunday, 17 April 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

yeah they are really good... not the best of the year but potential up the wazoo

ale fautsch, Sunday, 17 April 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

yeah i surprisingly like it a lot. NO HITS.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Sunday, 17 April 2005 04:48 (twenty years ago)

i bought it thinking it would all sound like no hits :(

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 17 April 2005 05:05 (twenty years ago)

i wish that too.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Sunday, 17 April 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

like it wouldn't be in my top 100. and i've only bought 4 or 5 new albums this year.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Sunday, 17 April 2005 06:46 (twenty years ago)

it might have been in 1972

rizzx (rizzx), Sunday, 17 April 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

so what 1972 music do people think these guys sound like, anyway? listening to their wan, thin, totally non-rocking sound, it's hard to imagine why anybody other than indie flaming lips type fans would even care about them.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 17 April 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

No. No it isn't.

Failin Huxley (noodle vague), Sunday, 17 April 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

I love this record. But I could do without the indulgent stuff like No Hits, cannot believe people actually think that's the best song.

Can't be debut of the year since MIA clearly owns that, but this record is right up there with the best of 2005 so far.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Sunday, 17 April 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

no hits rules, dude.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 17 April 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
damn it. i can't find the Black Mountain/Coldplay thread but it's indeed confirmed that the former is opening for the latter for a few shows on the upcoming tour.

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Very impressive live band. Two thumbs way up.
