Can anyone give me information on Passion Fodder &/or spinoffs: Theo Hakola, Les Hurleurs, Noir Désir, Orchestre Rouge...

I know that Pascal Humbert joined 16 Horsepower a few years back. I have Passion Fodder's "Fat Tuesday", which I think is incredible.. I also have "Woke up this Morning" which does nothing for me.

I found a website: http://wwwusers.imaginet.fr/~jbbouin/pagetheohakola.html
But it's in French - so I can only make out facts here & there.

Tell me what you can .....

... and at the risk of this thread getting highjacked by another band, tell me about A Certain Ratio also. Is there a connection? (I know they both opened for Peter Murphy in the 80s, Beggars Banquet label, produced by Martin Hannett?)

i heard noir desir ages ago, one song, don't know the name, it was really good, like vintage stereolab. then my friend found a copy of their album in a second hand shop in leeds. when he got it home, the cassette inside was actually meatloaf!

two months pass...
Passion Fodder have been together between 84 and 91 and released : "4 songs" (ep 84) - "Hardwords from a soft mouth" (85) - "fat tuesday" (86) - "Love, waltzes and anarchy" (87) - "Woke up this morning" (89) - "What fresh hell is this" (91). Orchestre Rouge was Theo Hakola's former band, they released 3 lps (I think). Though there were already really good things, these albums are quite 80s sounding, in the bad way... Theo Hakola has always produced Passion Fodder's records, and produced Hurleurs' first lp and Noir Désir's first mini lp. They've always been close since then (concerts, covers on singles...). There's another site that speaks about all this, but it is also in french. Besides Pascal Humbert, jean-Yves Tola also joined 16 Horsepower. Theo Hakola has now released 5 lps under his name, and written one play with songs and one novel. His actual band sees two other former passion fodder members playing : Bénédicte Villain (who has always been playing with TH) on the violin and Lionel Dollet on the electric guitar. A certain Ratio have absolutly no connection With Theo hakola. Here you are. Cheers.
