It's coming out! Or so suggests the promo I received in the mail today.

I'm halfway through and I like it a lot! Let's discuss.

Wah Gwaan is the Oh My Swing rhythm.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

I've heard about half of this. "Footprints" is (along with the Jah Cure track) probably the best Drop Leaf track.

Elephant Man has a new album Ova Di Wall coming out this summer too btw.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

I wonder why those two tracks don't have producers listed...they're great though, I haven't heard them before.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:08 (twenty years ago)

Well, "haters" is under 2 minutes. Its OK. "Music Pumping" though, awesome.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

What's amazing is how many great T.O.K. tracks from 2001-3 will now end up not being on any of their albums. No "Pengeleng". No "Galang Gal". No "Bring It On".

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

No "Goodas"!

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:11 (twenty years ago)

There is a Wayne Marshall track called "Music Pumping" I think.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

(google) There is and it's on the Marmalade riddim CD.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:17 (twenty years ago)

"Neck Breakers" is on some rhythm i've never heard, its got this weird bubble-pop noise, slow beat, weird vocoder voice thing.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

No "Sex On My Mind"!!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

Haha okay there are a lot of NOs here. Let's focus on the good stuff.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

Their previous albums has got to be one of the most overrated in recent time.

But I loooove the gay bashing.

Lovelace (Lovelace), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 22:49 (twenty years ago)

is this on Greensleeves then?

Amon (eman), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

VP.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

Well, this is in running for album of the year right now.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Thursday, 21 April 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

well, you know, one of them.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Thursday, 21 April 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

No "Let It Shine"!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 21 April 2005 19:10 (twenty years ago)

at the moment i'm thinking that deja vu is probably the single greatest moment in music ever. tok + shaggy + plus a big fuck-off sample of louie louie = pure jump-up comedy pop

stelfox, Thursday, 21 April 2005 22:37 (twenty years ago)

leak?

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Thursday, 21 April 2005 22:39 (twenty years ago)

i can safely say that this is the album i always wanted them to make. if deja vu doesn't become a massive, massive mainstream summer hit (depending whether it's released in such a way), i swear i'll start liking MIA or something.

stelfox, Friday, 22 April 2005 08:36 (twenty years ago)

I glanced around for this yesterday on slsk, Brainwasher, but I only saw the older 14 track leak.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 22 April 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
Cast my vote with Stelfox for "Deja Vu" = "you will be hearing this at weddings for the next two decades, better get used to it now"

You will certainly be hearing it at Poptimism for the next 6 months.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 19 May 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

WHERE THE HELL IS "SHE'S HOT"!!!!!?!??!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 19 May 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
And "Deja Vu" and "Haters" appear to not be on the official version of the record. They are going to need another record out next week to capture all the great stuff missed on this one.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)

is that a cover of mu's "haters"?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 30 June 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

alex you should put together a "shadow version" of this record and post the tracklist and share it on slsk and yousendit to all your friends?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 30 June 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

Haha well I would have to download the promo-version of this cuz I've not heard the missing tracks. I wonder what Dave thinks of the "amended" version of the album.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

Actually it is missing "Everything's Alright" too. "Galang Gal" (their version of Diwali) is there instead.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I missed them in berkeley!

Dnacehall superstars LOVE Berkeley! :)

Edgware General (nordicskilla), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

"Deja Vu" isn't on??!!!!!?? Either this is cos

- theyve licensed it to a bigger label to get the huge ££££

or

- the world is completely deranged

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

someone gmail me 'Deja Vu' please!

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure this co-released by Atlantic so I can't see the former. The latter is totally possible though.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

deej.., Thursday, 30 June 2005 22:40 (twenty years ago)

Haha the dresscode is hysterical. What are TOK gonna be wearing then?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 22:49 (twenty years ago)

I gotta admit I am sort of disappointed by this (not because the songs aren't great mind you.) But seriously they could've thrown practically any 16 TOK tracks from the last 3 years on this and it probably would've been just as good. What were they waiting so long for?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

That said if you don't have "Fire Fire", "Footprints", "Galang Gal", "Solid as a Rock", "Gal Yuh A Lead", "Unknown Language", etc on CD I wholeheartedly recommend this record.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 30 June 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

I haven't heard "Deja Vu" but I can imagine it being ace - Richard Shams Browne is an awesome producer.

T.O.K. are so brilliant. It is nice to see "Galang Gal" on there actually, it's probably still my favourite of the non-pop-megahit Diwali voicings.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 1 July 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
haha this album is awful. wtf @ u guys

am0n (am0n), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 03:12 (nineteen years ago)
