Probably - All Music has it listed as Blind Willie Johnson, but, in keeping with blues tradition, Zep took a lot different songs and mashed the lyrics together.

i think the Zep was loosely the Blind Willie Johnson song, but BLMA is right to point out the mashing tendency. The Blind Willie version, though is amazing. I have another version somewhere. (if only i was home to look... one of the Lomax collectionsi think.)

Theres the Lemonheads "Fucked up" which doesnt even sound appologetic in the least...an old band of mine used to cover it though.

"Building" by Embrace

"I can't get what I want, I'm a failure. Nothing seems to work quite the way I planned. I can't express the way I feel, the way I feel, without fucking up something else. I'm a failure."

Doesn't get much clearer than that.

John Cale - Music for a New Society (for the end of "Damn Life")
The Comsat Angels - Sleep No More (for the final lines of "Be Brave"...or, if it's some romantic situation, "Eye Dance")

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

Jefferson Starship, "Hot Water" and "Switchblade" (both Grace Slick-penned regret anthems from 1976's Spitfire)

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

If I'm really kicking myself, I'll just put on Knee Deep In The Hoopla to punish myself.. Oh, that's right, I don't have that CD! I wonder why.
