It's working for me, but it took a while to start up.

http://www.remmelt.com/slskboard/status.php is your friend!!

Xii (Xii), Thursday, 21 April 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

it's been working for me but not really well. the new version seems to feast on RAM to the point that mp3s will start slowing down and stuttering when it's running.

Basically soulseek is shit now.

:(

Atnevon (Atnevon), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

SLSK never works.

I'm moving to limewire.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Friday, 22 April 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

i'm sticking with it until it stops running on my creaky old OS.

i've almost never had a problem finding anything i want so far.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Friday, 22 April 2005 07:48 (twenty years ago)

do you have version 156b? they fixed that problem (HUGE HUGE memory hogging)

a, Friday, 22 April 2005 07:59 (twenty years ago)

No. It really is shit now. Nobody use it.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:10 (twenty years ago)

i'm running 156c and it didn't start acting wonky until this version.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

I switched to Limewire a couple of months ago, and haven't looked back.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Friday, 22 April 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

Limewire has spyware read C-net esp. comments in the D/L section.

BeeOK (boo radley), Friday, 22 April 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

Soulseek is the heart of Sky-Net. OMG we're going to die.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Friday, 22 April 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

it was working fine for me early this morning (like 2am). it's still great as long as you're patient and use the wishlist more than standard searches.

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 22 April 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

xpost: Limewire has been spyware-free since version 4.0 came out in May 2004. I've had no problems with it, and Ad-Aware also gave it a clean bill of health.

Tokyo Ghost Stories (Tokyo Ghost Stories), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:00 (twenty years ago)

slsk has been a lot better recently. The server has been down a lot today, though.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

It keeps going offline for me though. Not so much as of very recently but before it was pretty annoying.

Tokyo Ghost Stories (Tokyo Ghost Stories), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:29 (twenty years ago)

Yeah what matt said...are you guys serious? It's been working ridiculously well lately, esp. compared to even three weeks ago.

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:42 (twenty years ago)

I'm having trouble finding EVERYTHING i search for

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:46 (twenty years ago)

and the fucking server is down again for the 3rd time today

Aerodynamic (Aerodynamic), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

The last couple days I've been able to find anything I needed!

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:51 (twenty years ago)

The global search has been pretty good lately.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 24 April 2005 02:58 (twenty years ago)

damn its still down. Anyone have the link to the slsk blog?

Lethal Dizzle (djdee2005), Sunday, 24 April 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

Actually it's up and running just fine right now, as of around 2 PM New York time.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

Damn, I spoke too soon. Well it was working fine for a little while there.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

I don't normally do conspiracies, but how much do you think the, erm, vested interests would have to bribe P2P programmers to make their future products unusable shit?

Failin Huxley (noodle vague), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

down again.
