They were excellent at Cargo the other week.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 22 April 2005 07:08 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
the best of freddie mercury : love kills - more oder rework by the glimmers

- hidden away amongst all the dross ..

are people really expected to buy the cd just for this one track of excellence ?

mark e (mark e), Friday, 6 October 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, once the scene rip comes out and is mislabelled and sounding muddy as hell.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 6 October 2006 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

do you think they'll give some of their freddie royalties back to the residents and severed heads and everyone else whom they didn't re-imburse on their releases ?

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Saturday, 7 October 2006 07:15 (nineteen years ago)

Given the furious rate of releases up until DJ Kicks, it now feels like a long time since then... Any new mixes planned?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 8 October 2006 21:48 (nineteen years ago)

They are scheduled to do one for Fabric, I believe.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

They are indeed- it's December's mix, after Krafty Kuts and Marco Carola.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

god fabric has been sucking for a while now ... i hope the glimmers mix doesn't go the way of the rub'n'tug mix ...

HUNTA-V (vahid), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

Forget to mention, they've got a new 12" too: Time for Action, which is on Eskimo's new sublabel, Diskimo.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't there also a new Eskimo sublabel called Suicide or something? Looks like it's for dark tech-house in the Radio Slave vein maybe?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

new single is good, but the padded cell remix is like whoa.

H2-H4 (H2-H4), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 23:03 (nineteen years ago)

Suicide has been going for a year or two. Sadly I've only heard a couple stray tracks, although the Wannadies (!) remix single is great.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 26 October 2006 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

why is it that fabric tracklistings never fail to fail to excite?

HUNTA-V (vahid), Thursday, 26 October 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

budget licensing department i reckon

a (rslvd), Thursday, 26 October 2006 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

The Freddie Mercury remix is really great.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 27 October 2006 01:11 (nineteen years ago)

budget licensing department i reckon
-- a (supasupadupadupafl...), October 26th, 2006.

so...do some compilation compilers on some labels have benefit from having access to a wider range of stuff than others? how come?

pisces (piscesx), Friday, 27 October 2006 08:42 (nineteen years ago)

it depends upon the budget for the project which will be based on projected sales. if you are going to license a track for a mix cd, the label it is being licensed from will almost always want an advance. small independent labels will usually (but not always) be prepared to license a track for a relatively small advance while major labels usually wont be prepared to look at a request unless the advance is high. very often majors ask for unrealistically high advances which makes it financially unfeasible to use their tracks. so basically, you have access to what you can afford.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 27 October 2006 09:52 (nineteen years ago)

ten months pass...

Perhaps I'm just excited because they're reviving their original label mix series, but the tracklist for Eskimo 5 looks like a potential return to form, the slight Erol Alkan-ness of the first track notwithstanding.

01. Primal Scream – Loaded
02. Shirley Bassey – Slave To The Rhythm
03. Venus Gang – Love To Fly
04. LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends
05. Herb Alpert – Bullish
06. Mac Attack – The Art Of Drums
07. Dissidenten – Fata Morgana
08. Pop Dell´Arte – Querelle
09. Kenneth Bager – Fragment One...And I Kept Hearing
10. The Glimmers – Kiss Me
11. Cultural Vibe – Ma Foom Bey
12. Eugene Record – I Dont Mind
13. Pleasure Pump – Fantasize Me
14. Das Etwas – Go Ahead
15. Patrick Coutin – J´aime Regarder Les Files
16. Trio – Da Da Da
17. Tussle – Warning
18. Dachambo – Conga La Gotta
19. The Caravan – Somewhere In Arabia

Tim F, Monday, 27 August 2007 14:10 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, even that ultra-lame Spank Rock Fabric mix from earlier this year drew the line well before starting a mix with Loaded.

Matt DC, Monday, 27 August 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

what's wrong with loaded?

stirmonster, Monday, 27 August 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)
