IMO, soooooooo C. I've just gotten into 1999 (the album), and this was one of the first songs I heard that felt like a total hidden gem. Aaaaaahh, so amazing!

super classic. this is when prince was still a snotty asshole with a bad attitude and didnt give a shit about being nice and friendly.

I loved when I first listened to the song and finally found out what the initials stood for. (Which was, of course, "Depeche Mode Still Rules.")

hahahahahaha, oh shit. i thought it was "Dear Mom, Still a Robot."

Also, the fact that this song is over 8 minutes long and has Prince is pretty close to top form is enough to warrant it classic.

also, the fact that britt daniel was listening to 1999 and Revolver over and over during the writing/recording of Gimme Fiction (said in that PopMatters interview) is amazing. what a good combination, right? also, i can kind of hear it.

It sounded great in "Risky Business" too.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

yeah classic

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

jason., Friday, 22 April 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

show me someone who would say Dud, for I would have them garotted with knives scorched in the fires of Funk

$V£N! (blueski), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Super duper classic, of course. Wasn't this one of the songs omitted from the orginal CD issue of 1999?

brianiac (briania), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

oh man - the ending is really really excellent. it always used to freak me out when i would play it really loud in my car.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:07 (twenty years ago)

It was a high-point of last year's tour.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

i think this is prolly my favorite song ever recorded

charleston charge (chaki), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

I prefer "Let's Pretend We're Married"

miccio (miccio), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

That doesn't make "D.M.S.R." any less the bomb track, Ant.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

"Dude, My Sofa's Ripped"

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

"Drill My Soggy Rectum"

miccio (miccio), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

I am starting to question my love for this song.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

"Dinner? Make Seven Rounds"

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 22 April 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

possibly my favorite song on 1999

a banana (alanbanana), Friday, 22 April 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

On a related note, it took me years to see the connection b/w "Let's Pretend We're Married" and the Magnetic Fields' "Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits."

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

FUCKING CRUNK
