Formed from the (h)ashes of the Mexican Dub Cartel, Fat Mary Jane and Her Brownies assembled in their high school economics class in 1994 in Glen Saint Mary, Florida. Their name came from a video they watched in said class called The Kingdom of Mocha, an animated 1976 educational film that makes parallels between the American capitalist system and that of the fictional nation-state of Mocha. The film was reportedly loaded with various innuendos, such as that of a baker named Fat Mary Jane and how she sells brownies to make a living, hence the inspiration for their moniker.
