Anybody heard their album. Heard a couple of trax on the radio last night and it sounded shit cool in a 1989-91 meets Funhouse/Mary Chain kind of way. Read the review on Allmusic but looking for other opinions.

yeh. u should buy it. fenomenal record. fenomenal band. they is like the mary chain but not copying them. they is also a lot of influence from shogazing but positive not wimpy so they have listened to a lot of Loop so is fucking good go and buy it now.

XStatic Peace, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes XStatic, the guitars sound very Loop alright. And yes, I think I might just go and buy the LP. Always had a soft spot for this stuff.

Until now, I've only heard bad things about them and their attitude, not to mention their strange desire to plaster each club wall to wall with posters while their opening band plays, rather than get prepared for the show. When it is their turn to play, they choose to set up and tune for a good hour before they bother to do so.

Their performance on Reverb was pretentious and boring. I'm guessing they're all hype, but maybe they will turn out to be this generation's cool goth band.

I like 'Whatever happened to my rock 'n roll', nice Patti Smith + Stooges piano + Jesus & Mary Chain guitars simulation of Real Rock. Wasn't planning on buying the album, I heard a slow song that didn't do anything for me. Probably will find a burned copy in my mailbox one day. Mmm, Loop heh? Maybe I'll check it out on vinyl.

terrible flatulent telescopes copyists with a fistful of rejected jamc b-sides from 1991. apart from the single which is ok, i concede.

cw, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it sounded shit cool

Drop the cool part and my opinion is noted. I was just listening to Loop's A Gilded Eternity the other day and I think I'll stick with them -- but I'll give credit to BRMC for trying. Just not for succeeding, that's all.

I agree with Omar, the song "Whatever Happened to My Rock and Roll" is ace. The rest of it I like okay from a disposable JaMC replacement perspective, but it's sure not deep.

Telescopes coypists??!?!

Hmm, stepping over that bizarrity for a minute, I'd be interested to hear them, but frankly it just seems like yet another of those bands who just won't live up to it... I heard their album sounds really rushed because they had to hit it as the hype for this kind of thing was still around...

emil.y, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Band name sounds like it came from a focus group survey. Song title sounds like a Clear Channel slogan. I feel like their telemarketers are sure to call any minute.

Just buy Psychocandy and you're covered

Find a promo copy of Love Burns and save some money. Same deal as The Strokes, well connected daddy. In this case an A&R at Virgin.

Another shitty band from Los Angeles. Great. That song title "Whatever Happened to My Rock 'n' Roll"--ugh.

Arthur, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought they were from Berkeley. Though their hairstyles and clothes are very north Oakland.

Kris, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think they moved to LA recently. I sort of associate them with Bay Area and Portland bands with psych/garage/shoegaze sounds like Dandy Warhols, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Rick Bain & the Genius Position.

Curt, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I realize using Loop as a barometer is unfair for just about any band, but mmmyeah...

Andy K, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And people say 'Westlife' is a dopey name.

dave q, Wednesday, 23 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah, But the LOOK, the LOOK!

But they're not as bad as bleedin' Hoggboy.
