With a DVD of all the promos.

Just as I think my CD buying days are now over, thanks to the Fall Peel Sessions box, up jumps this for £14. 3 CDs and a DVD as I say.

Back off the wagon...

Including the ghastly performance of "French Disko" on The Word!

(it wasn't the band who were ghastly, it was these nitwit studio dancers in front of them!)

stereolab have a greatest hits coming - it's a double A side.

Yeah. I remember that, as I tuned in after the announcement of who they were, and thought it was Elastica. I'd just heared "Stutter" the once, and missed out on getting the seven-inch, so I thought "Nah, it's not that good after all". After the groop finished, here's me thinking "actually, that's pretty great!". Then I found out it wasn't Elastica after all! So, went out the next day and got the Jenny 10".

(I did eventually get Stutter, limited edition number 00002, but that's another story)

My copy of "Stutter" - which I bought out of Sister Ray on my lunch break on the Monday it came out - was limited edition number 00018 :-(

Well, I'd have been happy with that. At the time, obviously.

I got the single from a web-based shop based in Camden, and wondered who (presumably one of the band) was down so much as to sell of their copy as cheaply? (it was £20 when I bought it). Which made me sad also. I guess that's the story of Britpop in a nutshell.

Stereolab £35 in Reckless!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 25 April 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

£13.99 in Virgin on Oxford Street. My lunch hour didn't permit me to wander as far as Selectadisc.

I'm not sure I can justify this - I suspect I've got the lot (and a third of the the DVD on VHS).

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 25 April 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 25 April 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)
