I'm glad I never believed, but this will still not save me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

Nobody told me Kath was on the last Green Day album! Can't believe that never came up.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

So THIS is what that frogs-exploding-in-Germany-thing was about.

latebloomer: But when the monkey die, people gonna cry. (latebloomer), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:04 (twenty years ago)

I can't wait to hear this. Seriously. It'll be shockingly good or shockingly bad, no middle ground. You can't beat that sort of entertainment value.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:04 (twenty years ago)

kathleen hanna is a total moron.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

Actually a shot-for-shot recreation of the "Party All The Time" video with Kath as Rick James...still the end of days but what a toboggan ride.

PARIS HILTON FANS "GET" LETIGRE

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:37 (twenty years ago)

I was Paris when Paris wasn't cool.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

this is the sort of thing the le tigre uh "concept" was compromised by not doing from day one, surely?

tom west (thomp), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:47 (twenty years ago)

i think this is pretty cool. surely it'll put an end to the talk of KH being "humorless."

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

x-post: although okay i'm english and have only a very loose idea of the specific cultural value of a paris hilton, but still

i think "unfunny" is probably closer than "humourless", sadly

tom west (thomp), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:49 (twenty years ago)

but not "clueless"

(x-post)

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:49 (twenty years ago)

Hahahah, you genius man.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 01:49 (twenty years ago)

jimmy teh mod is OTM! This is awesome. Greatest news of the year. Paris's single that she put out wasn't bad at all, people.

I wonder what Camille Paglia would make of this.

tom west (thomp), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:02 (twenty years ago)

well i mean paris hilton is no mandy moore in the feminist sweepstakes but jeez, jess, it's not so bad.

Allyzay do not obtain to make download of yours MP3 (allyzay), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

haha I was gonna make some comment about LeTigre trying to make their fans take a spoiled socialite reality-TV star seriously as a musical artist but then I remembered how much I love the Kelly Osbourne album.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:04 (twenty years ago)

x-post

Camille Paglia likes fun, in as much as I can gather from her writing, so she'd probably dig it.

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:04 (twenty years ago)

"In the 1990s, poetry as performance art revived among young people in slams recalling the hipster clubs of the Beat era. As always, the return of oral tradition had folk roots - in this case the incantatory rhyming of African-American urban hip-hop."

gosh! and golly!

tom west (thomp), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

maybe Paris Hilton has a delightful personality and her and Kathleen are fantastic friends, who can say!

Allyzay do not obtain to make download of yours MP3 (allyzay), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

no, no, don't get it twisted, i fall more in the "helluva toboggan ride" camp

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 26 April 2005 02:06 (twenty years ago)

Is the album really called "Paris Is Burning"? If the title track is not about VD I'll be very upset.

Marmotdeth (marmotwolof), Monday, 5 June 2006 23:30 (nineteen years ago)

Dear Paris -

Whenever the revolution comes along, you realize that it's YOU that they'll be putting up against the wall and shooting, right?

Paris Hilton's first single: 'Stars are Blind'

Associated Press
May. 30, 2006 07:58 AM

HONG KONG - Paris Hilton says her upcoming album will be a mix of reggae, pop and hip-hop, with the first single being a reggae song called "Stars Are Blind."

Hilton also will remake Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy," she said in an interview in the June issue of Hong Kong magazine Prestige.

"The whole album has so much different music on it. I like all music. It's not like I only like pop or only rock. I want to have something for everybody," Hilton was quoted as saying.

Hilton said she wrote the lyrics to seven of her songs. The magazine didn't say how many songs are on the album.

She said she had to overcome shyness to become a singer.

"I have always had a voice and always known I could sing, but I was too shy to let it come out," Hilton was quoted as saying. "When I finally let go and did it, I realized it is what I am most talented at and what I love to do the most."

Prestige said the single, "Stars Are Blind," will be released this month by Warner Records and her own label Heiress Records, followed by a full album later this year.

Marmotdeth (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 00:14 (nineteen years ago)

i kind of never got why everyone hated paris hilton

someone should make a collage of ashley angel parker and have this song playing in the background...and post it on youtube.

youth problem (YouthProblem), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 02:28 (nineteen years ago)

how the fuck do you go from "suck my left one" to producing this?!

The same way you go from "white riot, I wanna riot" to "critics mags and interviews, who cares about bad reviews"

((((((DOPplur)))n)))u))))tttt (donut), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 02:31 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
So I've just discovered that the album is coming on 7 August, so I guess it should be leaking within the next 24 hours. The cover is awesome, PH having taken the whole blank plastic thing to the max. I suspect they used a wax mannequin for the picture.

AleXTC (AleXTC), Friday, 28 July 2006 12:49 (nineteen years ago)

No, Paris just looks like that. Did they get the people who do the covers for the Buddha Bar series to do this one?

Eppy (Eppy), Friday, 28 July 2006 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

you know, maybe the le tigre folks might be thinking that working with paris, and adding their slant to something massively powerful in mass culture might be a better road than returning to innocent, overly excited, rriot grrl tactics?

i kinda wonder what the hell this will be like.

bb (bbrz), Friday, 28 July 2006 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

I WILL BE AWESOME. THE END IS COME

Jimmy Mod: THE HANDLESS ORGANIST (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Friday, 28 July 2006 14:46 (nineteen years ago)

So, uh, is the Le Tigre song actually on this? Is the Three 6 Mafia?

Eppy (Eppy), Friday, 28 July 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

The cover is awesome, and this thread's title still makes me roffle. I hope those songs are there, but I will get it anyway - my local record store has a deal where every 13th CD you buy there is free. That's why I own Britney Spears "Greatest Hits", and why I will own this.

Marmot 4-Tay: Hold these goddamn chickens! (marmotwolof), Friday, 28 July 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

I can't find anything online that suggests Hanna or Le Tigre were actually involved, in the event, in anything on the upcoming Paris Hilton album. I'm not sure whether that's a bummer or a relief...

Doctor Casino (Doctor Casino), Friday, 28 July 2006 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

I can't find anything that suggests Paris was actually involved in the upcoming Paris Hilton album, aside from posing for the photo, video, and recording a few vocal tracks.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Friday, 28 July 2006 23:59 (nineteen years ago)

So the next single "Turn it up" is floating around the interweb. A strangely lifeless rip-off of 'Slave 4 U' era Britney.

Baaderonixx immer wieder (baaderonixx), Sunday, 30 July 2006 10:42 (nineteen years ago)

No, Paris just looks like that.

Oh yes, she's a complete natural. Only, she has brown hair and eyes.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 30 July 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

This is the Amazon blurb:

Hotel empire heiress, fashion model, reality TV star and now pop princess Paris Hilton adds another string to her bow with this debut album. A musician since childhood - she playsthe piano and the violin - she penned both music and lyrics, and working with hip-hop super-producer Scott Storch, overcame her fear of the recording booth to create the final product. Includes the single 'Stars Are Blind'.
