Could YSI be... MONITORING and CENSORING the posting of files by copyrighted artists? (cue scary music)

So an unnamed source has been trying to post a copy of the new Faith Evans for review on their site via YSI and various attempts to get the song up have resulted in it being taken down IMMEDIATELY, presumably by the YSI crew.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is YSI gonna start monitoring incoming MP3s? Has the cat gotten outta the bag? Is the YSI crew anything like the zombie baseball gang in "The Warriors"? Can you dig it?

Last couple of files of the type above that I tried to YSI have been blocked/deleted as soon as they are "sent".

My guess is that RIAA types are giving them info on file details / sizes for forthcoming / pre-release stuff and they get flagged for removal. Renaming the files to something totally unrelated seems to make no difference, still can't send 'em.

Bill A, that isn't really feasable. An album's file-size, CRC, can be changed easily. For example, if I ZIP up the Faith Evans album to upload to YSI, and Forkslovestofu does also, but with a different compression rate, the CRC and file-sizes would be completely different. It'd be impossible for the RIAA to know ahead of time details about the files.

What may happen though, is that YSI checks .mp3 files' id3 tags.

People are saying that the files are deleted immediately after uploading? I'd be curious what happens if the id3 tags are erased, or changed to something innocent.

I wonder if this ties in with the large number of "fake" MP3s for the new Faith Evans track which are floating around... as in, it's all part of a concentrated campaign for certain key high-profile tracks?

You've expressed what I was floundering for in a much more technically OTM manner, Mickey!

But yeah, as soon as the "file sent" page appears if I try to use the download link there's a message saying the file has been "blocked or deleted".

Haven't tried fiddling with the id3 tags.

two weeks pass...
I can confirm that they're checking the id3 tags, presumably en masse and electronically with some sort of watchlist; tracks that would otherwise not post, do as soon as the id3 and filenames are reverted to phonetic spelling.

hmmm.. well, I guess the best thing to do is to slap mp3s in a zip and change the extension to something else.
