Okay...I exaggerate...

Phone system fails as rock fans besiege lines trying to buy concert tickets
THUNDER BAY, Ont. (CP) — Fans of April Wine and Honeymoon Suite brought down the telephone system at Old Fort William on Tuesday morning.
The system crashed after it was besieged by too many callers trying to book tickets for a June concert also featuring Harlequin, Glass Tiger, Chilliwack, Prism and Trooper.
Fort manager Sergio Buonocore figured the high volume of calls knocked the system out.
But they did sell 6,000 tickets before it crashed.
“The number of calls were unbelievable,” Buonocore said of the frenzy. “We didn’t know it would be such a crazy response.”
“I had to pull my staff from all other areas to deal with the calls,” he said.
A spokesman for TBayTel said the breakdown had nothing to do with the utility as the fort operates its own telephone system.
Buonocore said when all the excitement dies down, he will investigate what went wrong.

I take it you've never been to Thunder Bay.

This warms my heart.

I had no idea Harlequin was still together! Or Chilliwack either for that matter.

I've seen Trooper several times over the last few years, mostly by accident, but they do a great show.

Another episode in a long saga of promoters underestimating the Chilliwack factor.

I saw Harlequin at the Blue Mule Bar in Penticton and they were heavier than fuck. George did a drug monologue straight out of 'Take No Prisoners'. "'Member the old days...free dope and pussy." Plus he did an Ian Curtis dance throughout. Good times. Prism on the other hand suck shit, and always have done.

I blame the Americans!
(After all, they blamed Canada for the great East Coast blackout of August '03...)
