Two ways this thread was gonna go by just reading the thread title.

A) Britney buys mainstream crap and we all have a little laugh at it (This could've happened, but I figured it was too meaningless to have its own topic)

B) Britney buys some semi-credible artist who is vaguely known by the mainstream media and is very well known by indie kids (My guess was that she bought a Strokes CD). We would spend the rest of the thread wondering why she bought it and what this meant.

I was procrastinating the other night watching "The Fabulous Life of..." and it was the Britney episode. One of the "star watchers" called Britney's house the "Graceland of Kentwood, LA". Now, this strikes me funny in two ways:

Is the White House the Graceland of DC? Is Gracie Mansion the Graceland of NYC? Is Paisley Park the Graceland of Chanhassen, MN?

AND

If she lives in Graceland, even A Graceland, does that mean she's going to be eating fried pb&banana sandwhiches, buying entire sets of jungle-themed furniture and shooting out televisions with handguns?

(Dan's point's a very good one -- compare/contrast producers: Kolderie and Smith aren't per se out to get one on the radio while Leckie knows and uses *all* the tricks even when he doesn't seem like he is. Consider how he worked on Verve's debut and how even though the band aimed for extreme murk and wash he's included every necessary touch more distinctly than might be imagined.)
