Issued as a 7-inch single in April 1990, "Slack Motherfucker" rapidly became one of the band's best-known songs. It has been credited with popularizing the "slacker" stereotype, and as a blueprint for future indie rock music.

RYM recently re-categorized 'Lo-fi' as 'Slacker' rock & I hate it, & it gets me mad. There's a lot of hard working DYI artists thrown in under the category, & as much I dig Subgenius mythology, I take it as a derogatory term when used about musicians.
