I'm not really into the ambient stuff.
I was thinking of getting Here come the warm jets or Before and after science?

Here Comes The Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). Highly, highly recommend. Some of the most batshit crazy lyrics ever recorded, with instrumental arrangemetns to boot.

But Before and After Science and Another Green world are best!

Tiger Mountain--his best words and his most fruitful exploration of rock and roll dynamix, although I like both sides of "Before and After" and admire the genius of "Cindy Tells Me" and "Seven Deadly Finns."

yeah - first two are most rock-oriented; HCTWJ is maybe my favorite album of all time. "needles in the camel's eye" and the title track are definitely in my top 10 songs of all time, maybe top 5.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 29 April 2005 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Another vote for HCTWJ

I lean more toward Tiger Mountain, but you can't go wrong with either that or Warm Jets. My absolute favorite is Before & After Science, but I'm in the minority there.

The most rock, or song oriented has got to be Warm Jets. But Tiger Mountain has his best song (in my humble opinion) The True Wheel.

The rock albums are great but if you don't like the ambient albums too then you're a douche.

Balance, people. BALANCE.

I think "Warm Jets" is more pop, whereas "Tiger Mountain" is more rock, but that's just me.

I bought all the Eno reissues and it was the best, like, $100 that I've spent on music in years. HCTWJ is the best; Discreet Music is the second best.

"Discreet Music" is wonderful background music for writing (critical pieces and fiction); "Before & After Science" is great to play during sex.
