i think i am a little OCD, when it comes to music

i have this tendency to become totally addicted to a particular song or record or band and listen to them practically nonstop for weeks and then forget about them (or at least set them aside) for years. but i can listen to the same song or few songs like dozens of times in a row without getting bored or annoyed. which makes me think i am a little OCD.

p.s. i drank a whole flask of saki tonight so perhaps this will not make sense.

I am VERY OCD when I listen to music, but the less said about that the better.

i was just talking to my ex-gf tonight, and she said that the sufjan stevens song i e-mailed her on tuesday night, she has listened to 36 times already! i have had itunes for two and a half years, and my most played song (annie's "heartbeat") i have only played 33 times. but yeah, she is ocd. or at least she admits to being that way, not just with music. it is an interesting thing. there's definitely songs i get really into for a moment, but it's always curtailed by me feeling like i should give some other songs a chance. i kinda like to mix it up, i guess.

four years pass...

I only have to listen to two more albums (Björk's two latest) until the first unplayed artist in my iTunes library is Bob Dylan. OCD OCD but this has taken some focus, for there are 2,596 songs (13.26 gigs) before Bob Dylan in this library. This iTunes library has been in place since the start of June, when I got this new computer. It'll be a while before I get through Dylan, though; I have 2,017 Dylan songs (12.76 gigs).

anyway O_O at me.

wondering what .26 of a gig was before i realised you meant gigabyte not live recording.

George Mucus (ledge), Sunday, 15 November 2009 10:41 (sixteen years ago)

nothing between bjork and bob though? that's a big gap.

George Mucus (ledge), Sunday, 15 November 2009 10:43 (sixteen years ago)

I've not been listening in order...I guess there are limits to my OCD.

Yah Kid A (Euler), Sunday, 15 November 2009 10:48 (sixteen years ago)

Sad that there's no Black Sabbath, Blondie, or Bo Diddley in Euler's iTunes library.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 15 November 2009 10:49 (sixteen years ago)

there is! all three of them! And Blood, Sweat and Tears! And Boards of Canada! I listened to them before Björk though.
