Every One's A Winner - Hot Chocolate. The guitar from hell. And I mean that in a very good way.

"Summer Breeze" owns this.

john berberian 'and the middle east rock ensemble' "the oud and the fuzz"

there are a couple of mahmoud ahmed tunes with really tasty fuzz.

The Carpenters' "Goodbye to Love" owns the bits that "Summer Breeze" doesn't own

"Mrs. Johnson" by Just 4 Fun. Norwegian Eurovision entry from 1991 (this year's entry has a lot of fuzz and overdrive, but in spite of being Eurovision, it must be counted as "rock" nevertheless)

Behind a Painted Smile - also Isley Bros

"Goodbye to Love" powerfully seconded...the first thing Î thought of when I saw the thread title. Jesus, that song is great.

the most intensely fuzzed-out isley bros. jam has to be "why when love is gone". when my friend charlie heard it, he said it sounded like pavement.

also, the fuzz guitar on much of the etoile de dakar, and especially etoile 2000 stuff is super fucked up and crazy.

sonny sharrock, on pharaoh sanders "tauhid" maybe?
