What do you think of these tracks?

I left detroit about 14 months ago. I have heard a good set of house music exactly twice since then. These tracks were inspired by the stuff I used to hear at places like Better Days, The Lager House, and old loft and gallery parties back in the day.

They aren't hip or modern or micro.

(I'm the last person to listen to on this, but since nobody was posting:)

Hmm. The sound is a little muddy, so maybe I’d have to listen to these with the high end enhanced to really catch everything that’s going on. As it stands I like the one panned-out tom on “house 3,” and the horn samples have a great feel—I wonder if you could cut and chain them into more configurations without feeling like you were drifting away from the dancefloor pulse? There’s something about the beat that seems very tense and shifty, like it’s about to get fuller but is making you wait—and so I did feel some suspense for either the horns or the hand percussion to suddenly roll out into something really active. The kit on the untitled one sits more comfortably where it is—doesn’t seem to be mounting up or cooling down—so the level of motion seems good to me. Still want the high-end, though: that second track in particular seems like it could be really terrific at creating a sense of big-big space, only it can’t quite do it without those high airy frequencies for things to reverberate and echo around in.
