U2 generally have a new record every four or five years. It's like presidential terms.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

I think Boris Blank has said in an interview "I believe I will be somewhere making weird noises well into my 80s, if I live that long."

Negativland. (Mark Hosler has said something similar to Boris Blank.. although both bands don't release stuff that often.)

OTM about U2, New Order, and the Ye Olde Rolling Stones.

The Go-Betweens. I suspect the new incarnation will be a continual investment for Forster and McLennan.

Did The Four Tops break up when Levi Stubbs died?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

The Fall?

elwisty (elwisty), Tuesday, 3 May 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Levi's not dead! And no, they didn't break up, but there's some guy in Stubbs' place.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

I think Pearl Jam, 'till the die someone in there dies.
Badly Drawn Boy is a solo artist.

elgolfo (elgolfo), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 01:57 (twenty years ago)

"I think Boris Blank has said in an interview "I believe I will be somewhere making weird noises well into my 80s, if I live that long.""

Captain Sensible, 1979: "I want to still be going on stage doing this when I'm 100. I'll go up there in a wheelchair and shout 'you ought to cut your tits off and shove them up your arse'!"

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)

x-post

The The have split up, probably - Johnson has stated that he wishes to not use the name for any future projects (after three years of trying to rescue the remaster/unreleased/DVD projects from Sony)

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 08:53 (twenty years ago)

OK. Like Aztec Camera then. They have split up too (wonder how if feels to split yourself up...)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 09:26 (twenty years ago)

I don't see that just because a solo act decides to "split up" this should necessarily preclude a subsequent reformation.

Just look at Prince....

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 11:12 (twenty years ago)

King Crimson. Or will they perpetually break up? It's a fine line.

diedre mousedropping (Dave225), Wednesday, 4 May 2005 11:14 (twenty years ago)

Kirk Brandon seems to have reached the (not entirely unreasonable imho) conclusion that any band that includes him may, at any time, be called either Theatre Of Hate or Spear Of Destiny or, I suspect, both.

I have no idea why this practice hasn't been extended to also include The Pack.
